More Styles is a night aligned to no one style or sound and is simply dedicated to the dance and what moves. One can expect dub, house, techno, uk garage, jungle, grime, dubstep, footwork and beyond.
Fittingly, our opening night features the return of Canada’s (Sydney claimed) Cassius Select, real name Lavurn Lee. His production gives nod to many of the aforementioned genres, while also referencing the old school, rave and early hardcore through gritty drumtrax and abstracted bass workouts that take dancefloor tropes and twist them into frenetic yet controlled grooves fit for the deepest dissociative states.
Some may know him as FAKE or Guerre, but his latest incarnation sees him having released on Matthew Herbert's Accidental Jnr, Dro Carey/Tuff Sherm's Plastic World, Unknown to Unknown and Hypercolour; The latter of which dropped his Fake Death EP in 2018 - “An EP brimming with forward thinking vigor and razor sharp edges across six cuts of mutilated beats and dense auras.”
Alongside fellow ex Sydney-sider Cop Envy (a.k.a Sean Thomas, née Alba) and our residents Emelyne, Campbell and Kufatali (of PBS106.7FM's blend corp), we invite you to join us for our first flight on January 11th at Melbourne's soon closing and universally loved institution Lounge.
