The Dark Horse Sessions return with another quality booking in the form of A La Fu alongside resident G-Force Collective DJs.
In case you don't know...
Recording artist, producer, disc jock and someone not in the least bit disillusioned by it all...the mojo triangle that is A La Fu.
A La Fu left his beloved hometown of Aberdeen early and developing modesty beyond all good sense he wrapped himself up in a cloak of inferiority and genuinely believed that the smart folks were in places like London, Paris and New York.
Inspired early on by the turntable and a fervor for anything slightly off kilter, A La Fu carefully developed his craft working closely with the Ninja Tune and Big Dada record labels, recording and touring extensively both solo as well as with artists including Coldcut, Mike Ladd, Roots Manuva and Saul Williams, he has performed at venues and festivals such as Glastonbury, Trans Musicales, Pukkelpop, Fabric, Brixton Academy, Bestival, Sub Club and NYC’s Knitting Factory to name a few.
A La Fu has appeared several times on MTV and other television networks, notably alongside the godfather of hip hop Kool Herc illustrating the art of DJ’ing. He has also recorded mixes for BBC Radio 1, Solid Steel and more recently for Mary Anne Hobbs. He was nominated for and won a new music award from the BBC in 2009.
More recently A La Fu has built his own studio, christened by Bill Drummond and Jimmy Cauty (The Jams/KLF) while recording the legendary mavericks of popular music's acclaimed memoirs ‘2023’. A La Fu has also formed Va Va Records, an independent channel interested in delivering inventive works and projects through the broad medium of music and art.
