British-Bahraini trumpet and flugelhorn player aims to blur the lines between jazz, electronic sound design and the music of her mixed heritage. After selling out King’s Place for the launch of her exquisite album La Saboteuse in 2017, the Jazz FM-nominated trumpeter and composer Yazz Ahmed joins us at XOYO.
With La Saboteuse, Ahmed took a further step in a musical journey that embraces her Bahraini roots alongside the new moves and grooves of todays jazz radicals. Undulating rhythms and melody resonant with the sounds and sensations of the Middle East, and her own sonorous trumpet lines, combine in music of cinematic breadth.
In the last year, Ahmed has added four exciting electronic La Saboteuse remix tracks, reflecting the breadth in her musical bandwidth.
