- On Friday, March 15th, we are extremely excited to present extended sets bySven Weisemann and Mike Huckaby at Golden Record NYC. Mike and Sven are two of the most talented and technically skilled producer/DJs in the game and we couldn’t think of a better way to experience them than having both on the same night… on our stellar sound system for a 12+ hour underground party alongside our good friends, and Golden Record favorites, Nathaniel Jay and Ricky Gamez. Despite his young age, Sven Weisemann has been DJing since 1997. A self-taught musician who plays piano, acoustic guitar and percussion, Weisemann also composes jazz and soundtracks - traditions which also inform his house records no doubt. While credited with being one of the leaders of the new wave of club talent, his influences are deeply rooted in the sounds of classic Detroit, Chicago and New York. His sound is equally eclectic, taking in jazz and ambient elements to create a deep and layered soundscape. As a producer, his music draws deeply on the legacy of Chicago and Detroit, yet somehow manages to end up sounding as fresh as a daisy - records such as 'Vibe' and 'Slices' are house music that are half atmosphere and half beats, and not afraid to take its sweet time to lull the floor with their charms.e Tastemaker, Educator, Sound Designer, and Motor City Proponet. Mike Huckaby has done much for Detroit electronic music. The man behind the once legendary Record Time store has gathered an encyclopedic knowledge of music. He is one of those guys who knows all the roots and culture of electronic dance music. He is a person who can see beyond the hype and divisions within the scene. Mike knows exactly what the music is. Mike Huckaby has become the busiest remixer from Detroit in the past few years, while keeping busy producing music on his two labels, Deep Transportation, and S Y N T H. Furthermore, Mike Huckaby has been touring, djing, and teaching music production with Native Instruments and Ableton software at Youthville, and around the globe extensively. When the discussion of the Detroit / Berlin connection comes to mind, Tresor or Hardwax is usually discussed. But the Detroit / Berlin connection of the millennium and beyond is taking place at Youthville with the assistance of Ableton and Native Instruments, and the work Mike is doing there. Mike brings the Detroit sound of deep house and techno with him. He knows the balance between deep house and techno like no other.
