Scand presents: Cultivated Electronics X Central Processing Unit

  • RA PICK
  • Two of the most vital labels in electro join forces for a heavyweight lineup at Corsica Studios. Old school heads Detroit In Effect and Neil Landstrumm contrast with exciting new names Animistic Beliefs and 96 Back.
  • SCAND is back with an 808 Boom for our first party of 2019! The continued rise of Electro has seen the labels Cultivated Electronics and Central Processing Unit go from strength to strength over recent years, with their output showcasing essential releases from producers at the core of electro’s renaissance. After collaborating on previous parties featuring the likes of Cygnus, DMX Krew, Maelstrom and Morphology, we are massively excited to be combining forces once again to present a night showcasing artists that are affiliated to, or have been an influence to, both labels. Detroit in Effect aka DJ Maaco has been releasing his unique brand of electro since the mid-nineties and his energetic DJ sets have been taking dance floors by storm over recent years as fresh audiences embrace his unmistakable sound. There is no escaping the influence that music from the Motor City has had on both labels and we are thrilled that the Detroit Party train will be pulling into town for us. Neil Landstrumm is a Techno veteran that should need no introduction. His distinctive productions have graced revered labels such as Tresor, Peacefrog, Killekill and Unknown To The Unknown, building a strong reputation as one Techno’s finest live acts along the way. Landstrumm’s recent ‘A Death, A Mexican And A Mormon ‘‎ release on CPU explored the classic Sheffield sound and we are thrilled that he will be performing a special CPU inspired set for us on the night. Rotterdam’s Animistic Beliefs caused an instant stir throughout electro world as videos began to emerge online of their raw, live performances. Their recent releases on the Exaltics’ Between Places imprint and a haunting contribution to CE’s From the Dark series have offered us a glimpse into their unique sound. Their upcoming ‘Molucca Quake’ EP on CE further cements their electro credentials and we cannot wait to welcome this in demand duo to Scand for their long overdue London debut Djedjotronic is a Parisian based producer that first caught our attention with his ‘Drum Program’ release on Boysnoize Records back in 2014; a release that was in heavy rotation from the likes of Dave Clarke, The Hacker and Maelstrom. His recent EP ‘Cruising‘ on CPU offered further validation of his machine funk credentials and we cannot wait to hear the exclusive live electro set he will be performing for the Corsica dance crew. 96 Back is a home-grown producer from Sheffield that was born to be a part of the CPU family. His 2018 single ‘Provisional Electronics’ gave us a taster of his braindance tinged electro and his latest CPU release ‘Excitable, Girl’ is a double pack bursting with tracks that push his unique sound even further. We are delighted to have him join our bill and represent the eclecticism of the CPU sound. Kicking things off for us in the main room will be Australia’s Assembler Code. With releases spread across both labels, Assembler Code is an artist that we hope you are already familiar with via the huge releases he produced alongside his partner in grime, Jensen Interceptor. The ‘Mental Escape EP’ released on the International Chrome imprint (run alongside Jensen) was a stand out single for us last year so we cannot wait to welcome him into the Scand party fold. Support on the night will come from residents CPSmith from the CPU Posse + Sync 24 and Steve Allman from the Cultivated Crew.
