Funkhaus proudly presents FORUM - a brand new event concept launching April 30th at the iconic Berlin venue.
Presented as a platform to facilitate the fusion of seemingly disparate musical practices, FORUM interrogates the boundaries of overly familiar line-up culture by inviting a list of musical innovators with a diverse range of creative methods, united by a shared commitment to exploring the avant-garde. By rejecting the tropes of typical electronic music programming and focusing instead on a fundamental presentation of the music itself, FORUM will serve as an exchange of ideas amongst curious minds.
Each FORUM event will be divided between the iconic Studio 1 and Foyer spaces, with the former hosting immersive live performances throughout the evening, followed by an exciting nighttime programme of DJs in the latter.
For the inaugural event on April 30th, Funkhaus invite Moritz von Oswald, Richard Devine, Kamran Sadeghi, Samuel Rohrer and Enyang Ha Ha to perform in the vast, cavernous walls of Studio 1, with TEXTASY, PLO Man & C3D-E, Christopher Ledger and com.poté handling the late-night proceedings in the Foyer.
Multi-instrumentalist and aesthetic pioneer Moritz Von Oswald will present a rare performance of a new live show entitled ‘AKKLAMATION’ - As a driving force behind the emergence of dub techno, his work as part of both Basic Channel and Rhythm & Sound is widely considered as pivotal in the progression of electronic music since the early 90s.
Richard Devine is an Atlanta-based sound designer most prominently known for his 2001 album Lipswitch on Warp Records. Employing elements of glitch music and electronica, his performances brandish heavily processed, immersive sound from a plethora of sources.
Iranian-born, New York-based composer Kamran Sadeghi has been exploring the microscopic details of sound since the late 90s. With releases on labels ranging from Sacred Bones Records to Apollo/R&S, his productions explore and disrupt the spatial properties of forged acoustics.
Samuel Rohrer is a virtuosic percussionist who’s list of collaborations range from Ricardo Villalobos to Laurie Anderson. Maintaining the ability to effortlessly switch between complex rhythms, he is one of the most influential improvisational musicians of his generation.
Enyang Ha is a producer, live performer and DJ exploring the dissonance between natural and synthetic sound. Her genre-defying productions forge entire sonic worlds of their own, assimilating references from a sea of influences.
