DIE RUHE I LIVE – TECHNO + VOICE
During the Noughties of Berlin, the dancefloors of Bar 25 & Panorama Bar gave Maria Ruhe a home and her love for electronic music emerged. After a crazy while she started singing along to afterhours DJ sets – but back in the days techno didn't seem to need a voice and she had never even considered being a DJ herself. Instead she decided to study jazz and shut herself into music a university for several years to refine her unique voice. Afterwards she finally got in contact with electronic music production and it seemed only natural to combine her favorite thing – techno based music – with what she loves the most: singing.
She took a few detours along the way, but eventually landed where she is today: playing constantly changing and evolving live/hybrid electronic sets, drawing inspiration from her many musical influences so as to keep both herself and her audiences moving. Therefore her rich vocal sound alternates from natural to processed, from lyrical to instrumental.
She also loves to work with other producers and musicians to broaden her musical perspective and enrich her sound. Her vision is diversity. Her drive is finding new connections between sine waves, forms of art and human beings. Die RUHE weaves original music, lyrics, poetry, loops and improvisations inspired by the life she faces each day.
