For
B From E dance music equals spirituality, as he unites his buddhistic roots with a love for machines funk, sparkling grooves, depthful melodics and trance-laden synths to create his emotional house rollers. Behind the moniker, which translates to Bodhisattva
From Earth, hides 28-year old Frej Levin of Mexican-Danish descent, who carves out dancescapes from his suburban Copenhagen basement.
Bio:
“So much electronic
music is about looking forward, but it doesn't hurt to look back as well. B From E from Copenhagen is building a career doing just that, releasing throwback house bombs, that may as well have been produced in the '90s. Lean and smart, they're the kind of garage-tinged
groovers loved by almost every house DJ on the planet, based on the time-tested combination of cheery melodies and sprightly groove.”
Matt Unicomb, Resident Advisor.
The aesthetics of the 90s form the cornerstone
of the B From E sound with clear inspirations from the jazzy harmonies of Kerri Chandler, sharp synths of ibiza trancers Vengaboys, off-kilter UK Garage grooves of Todd Edwards and the soundscaping from classic Nintendo games, that alongside his hardware synth
collection overflows his home basement studio. The dance floor isn’t Frejs only attraction, who began rapping at age 12, and is currently making waves as the voice of boom bap rap group NATKAT. If that isn’t enough to keep him busy, the multi-talent also runs
the Buddahood imprint, releasing trance, electro, breakbeat and house tracks from himself and family.
B From E debuted in 2017 with the ‘Porno TR-XXX’ EP on Copenhagen Underground Posse, that sold-out quickly on
release and saw dancefloor playtime from highly renowned DJs during last summer at the massive Dekmantel Festival. Following up with a nonstop 2018, thas saw a multitude of releases on the esteemed Tartelet Records, Multiplex, Copenhagen Underground Posse
and Italy’s Traxx Underground all gaining premieres and positive reviews from media outlets as Resident Advisor, Stamp The Wax and Les Yeux Orange.
Everything culminated with a performance
at Roskilde Festival, where his spiritual, emotional rollers was showcased for a dancing crowd in the sunshine. Frej is preparing for the turn of the year with a spring release on his own Buddahood label with the trance-house EP tributing the legendary Vengaboys
named ‘The Year 8080’, shortly followed by the ‘Ghetto Space’ EP on Creak Inc., alongside live & DJ performances abroad plus remix duties for the legendary Chez Damier in the pipeline.
