  • MonoMachina returns for a second installment at Nocturne on November 7, 2009, with another groundbreaking lineup of all-Toronto live PAs and DJs. Harkening back to days when a variety of genres could be heard in the same room (and in the same night), Monomachina eschews trends in favour of eclecticism and exposing the city's untapped pool of both up-and-coming and veteran local talent. From outboard gearheads to laptop savants and vinyl-only DJs, MonoMachina brings a unique vision to the dancefloor with each and every undertaking. Featuring: MAIN ROOM LUNATICS OF SOUND (Quanza Records/Zenzontle Records - http://www.loonamix.com/) & BRAD MACHADO (Suite Girl Music - http://www.myspace.com/bradmachado1) The trio of George, Gmoney and Dimimak have built a loyal following of Lunatics from as far away as Paris and Japan, via regular podcasts and a string of releases that have found their way to Juno, Beatport and iTunes. Accompanying the Lunatics will be Brad Machado, with his debut Live PA performance. Walls are gonna shake as L.O.S. bring their big-room sound to the Nocturne dancefloor! DUBTRAK (http://www.dubtrak.com/) Satta, mon! Dubtrak's fusion of Dub, Trance and Tribal sensibilities culminated in 2008's 'Dubtrak Assault Unit' LP (with the track 'Heavy Roll' featured on a 2009, 2 CD compilation showcasing Polish (!!) Dub artists) Expect ultra-deep bass and otherworldly machine music from this up-and-downtempo-coming luminary. S.C.I.E.N.C.E (myspace.com/sciencehomework) Defying convention, refusing to be pegged under any one particular genre, encouraging active participation from their audience, dressing up in Muppet costumes... S.C.I.E.N.C.E are to live electronic music what open source is to software. And if you don't get the comparison, just bring your dancing feet and you'll be just fine... and SPANKBOX (minimal techno/house) FRONT ROOM BLUNTWORKS (WestsideWax & Jack Tripper) ALL-VINYL REVUE Take two DJs with nearly 40 combined years behind the wheels of steel, who believe that "vinyl is still king" and give them their own room for 5 unpredictable hours of classic Chicago House, 303 Acid, Detroit Tech and Electro, Italo-House, New Wave, New Beat, Booty Bass and Ghetto Tracks and you have a rough approximation of the Bluntworks experience... MonoMachina resident DJ WestsideWax (http://thefamilyumbrella.gaia.com/) has shared the stage with some of the biggest players in the game, including Richie Hawtin, Roger Sanchez and Ghetto-Tech don DJ Godfather. Now operating a modest Toronto-based DJ school, helping kids and adults alike to appreciate the fine art of the ones and twos, he'll be hauling in crates stuffed with bass-laden goodness both old and new. Jack Tripper (a.k.a. Dylan T.) has been a fixture in the Toronto party scene since the mid-90s, honing sets that reach into some of the weirder and more eclectic corners of the four/four bounce. Most recently heard at Promise's Dirty Motor Fridays alongside Detroit's Twonz, and laying the smackdown at Pivot's Patterns, he returns as part of the Bluntworks brigade, with a slick mix of the best in electronic vinyl from the past 40 years. Hosted By MONOMACHINA (http://www.monomachina.com) & Kelvin Gumbs of ALLTRONIC (http://www.myspace.com/alltronic) Visuals by VIDEOTHESIS (http://www.myspace.com/videothesis) 19+
