Colony - End Of Year Special

  • Keeping the ball rolling right until the death, COLONY returns for its 10th and final party of the year - a crunching End of Year Special to be held at E1's premier rave den, Rhythm Factory. With a 300 person capacity, 6am licence and a hefty 11k Turbosound rig, it's the perfect location for what will be, by some way, our biggest party to date, and a royal way to cap off the last 12 months. Headlining is a man we've had our eyes on for quite some time: Kevin Gorman. His label, Mikrowave, has been responsible for some of the year's most enthralling techno, with everyone from RA to mnml ssgs piling on the praise. Melding the deeper side of European minimal to the raw physicality of Detroit, he's developed a powerful sound that's both organic and functional, making it perfect material for what will be an all-too-rare live PA. If you know what's good for you (and we're pretty sure you do), you need to see this. Keeping the flag flying for Manchester, we're delighted to announce the debut live performance from Millie & Andrea, two of Modern Love's finest (?) all tarted up in Daphne attire. Anyone with their finger on the pulse of dark, dubwise club music will have come across their productions, which span techno, 2-step, wonky and hardcore, and occupy a niche that's simultaneously forward thinking, idiosyncratic and reverent. Barely a year old, it's a miracle they're even playing, and downright mandatory that you're present! Complimenting the above, we've got two of London's brightest talents dropping in to man the decks: Ben UFO (co-owner of the mighty Hessle Audio) and Sigha (now a regular on Scuba's superlative Hotflush imprint). Mr UFO has had a stormer of a year, showcasing his enviable skills at clubs across Europe and winning plaudits from the house, techno, dubstep and funky communities alike. Never one to plump for the obvious, he'll be delivering a special D&B/jungle set which, as anyone who knows his history will testify to, promises to tear the place up. Sigha, meanwhile, will be taking us on a journey into the dubbier realms of house and techno. No stranger to the 4/4 game, his night, Medium, has been one of the few to bring the sound to breaks-minded crowds, and his productions - the latest of which graces Bristol's excellent Immerse - are increasingly of the ilk. He was our first proper booking, and did a bloody good job, so it was inevitable he'd be back sooner rather than later. Supporting duties fall to COLONY partners-in-crime MB and CB, on hand to keep things humming, whilst VJ Darkin will be doing his (increasingly abstract) thing via laptop and projector. Advance tickets, going for a mightily reasonable £7+BF, are available now from Resident Advisor - do the right thing and snap one up.
