Since his debut 2012 EP of bubbling acid house on cult Los Angeles imprint 100% SILK, Roland Tings continues to be one of Australia’s most interesting and eclectic electronic music artists. Gaining instant attention for his blistering live sets, Roland’s hyperactive energy and hypnotic synth programming lit up dancefloors at Melbourne’s most raucous house parties and basement clubs.
When a handful of demos made their way to Norwegian alt-disco king Prins Thomas, he instantly signed Roland’s debut self-titled LP to his revered label Internasjonal. A work brimming with odd-ball, club-ready tracks, the album put Roland in the national spotlight while creating a swell of interest abroad on the back of strong reviews XLR8R and Mixmag and being Triple J’s feature album (the first entirely instrumental dance album to get that title).
After an intensive stint on the road and in the studio, Roland returned in 2017 with the Each Moment a Diamond EP. A fusion of euphoric techno and propulsive pop cuts, the EP shines equally bright on the dancefloor or in headphones. Debuting his expanded live show at the 2017 St Jerome’s Laneway Festival, Roland then set out on a sold out nationwide live tour in support of the EP.
Having supported artists such as Jamie XX, Rüfüs Du Sol, Juan Atkins, Chet Faker, Chrome Sparks, Palms Trax and Todd Terje, Roland rounded out 2017 with a nationwide DJ Tour and releasing his disco tinged, stripped back house track, ‘One Hundred’ ft. HIGH HØØPS.
And now in 2019, as a celebration of his new single release Hiding In the Bushes, Roland Tings joins us in the cage at Revolver Fridays with support from Mike Callander & Co plus Mi Casa on stage.
