We are discovering more or less opaquely that we are all in motion towards new terrains, that require rediscovery. Possible Futures presents a new edition of Aquarian Shift at OHM. For this new saga, we look all the way up to our neighbours, adjacent Belgium and Holland, inviting some of the most exciting artists to come out of the aquarian parts of the low-lying lands. On April 26th, Curious Paul invites De School householder Oceanic, as well as Stroom label-wizard Nosedrip to join mainstay Alex from Tokyo, who currently draws his very own centre line between Ghent and Berlin. = Alex From Tokyo In constant flow, Alex from Tokyo is an international man of musical wonderment, with a career that extends over three decades and continents. It simply is unthinkable to pin him down to a given space-time continuum. Alex grew up in Japan, where he lived over 20 years and became a staple of the Tokyo scene. In 2004, Alex moved to New York City, where he established himself as a reference, playing at many of the city’s institutions - Le Bain, Good Room, Cielo, APT… In the meantime he developed his production as one half of Tokyo Black Star - producing for Deeply Rooted, mule, Planet E and his own imprint World Famous. For the past year, Alex from Tokyo has called Berlin home, and OHM, his house. Nosedrip (STROOM) Ziggy Devriendt aka Nosedrip hails from Ostend, Belgium’s most beautiful coastal town. In the space of just a few years, Ziggy’s made a name for himself with the persistence and focus of a kid that wants to prove all his bullies wrong. From running a legendary ambient show on his Mixcloud-page, which has a staggering 30.000+ followers, he went on to launch Stroom.tv. The platform caused quite some waves in the online radio community because of its unique mixture of oddball playlists and distinctive aesthetics. In 2016, his radio show moved to NTS and Stroom.tv turned into a record label focusing on heritage, with Ziggy spitting out killer archival releases. As a DJ, Nosedrip sets moods like no-one else and leaves dancefloors gasping for breath everywhere he goes. Oceanic (De School) Not everyone grows up with the sea in his backyard. Sliding through the salty waters next of Zeeland, the now Rotterdam based Oceanic found what he’d like the most: trancey percussion over floating ungraspable rhythms. Several thrilling productions settled on his brother’s label Nous’klaer Audio, remixes on Versatile and Yeyeh, with many more to come. By holding a monthly residency at Amsterdam club De School, he developed a knack for tracing lines between unpredictable genres whilst never taking his eye off the dance floor, making him one of the most exciting DJ talents of the Netherlands. Curious Paul (Possible Futures) Traveler, medium, tranquilizer, Curious Paul started compiling mixtapes by the Mediterranean Sea long before he could get into clubs. From there to Buenos Aires, to Tbilisi, through to Tokyo and back to Berlin, over the past 15 years he played for the the wildest fauna offered by the planet’s many nocturnal jungles. Curious P learnt that the eternal act of dancing is one of the most active forms of contemplation. It is through his open and eclectic selections that Curious Paul turns his dancefloor into a space of self-discovery and musical transe-en-dance. These days, he runs a few records labels including Possible Futures and practices the Tombak in his Kreuzberg treehouse. His musical worldview takes in everything from EBM to Disco, from House and Global Rhythms to the best Synth Pop from the world around. = Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable or did I become miserable because of pop music?
