Deep Medi Musik takes over The Steel Yard on Friday, 2nd August for a showcase with the label’s creators and innovators from the last number of years.
Founder of the imprint Mala heads up the bill, a man who has played an essential part in the trajectory of UK dubstep, not to mention his role as founder of DMZ who is behind some of modern bass music’s most influential records.
Blending the sounds of 'leftfield abstract bass free-styling grime lounge downtempo music', Egoless is an artist who has crafted a sound truly unique to anyone else. Playing live, you can never know what to expect from the Croatian producer who is now widely-recognised for his improvised live sessions.
Blurring the lines between dubstep and atypical beats, Commodo is one of the most promising producers this year and brings his sound to the forefront of The Steel Yard for the first time.
Receiving support from the likes of Toddla T and Chase and Status, Compa is part of the Deep Medi Musik family after releasing his ‘Truth in Sound’ EP, something which illustrates only a hint of what the producer is capable of.
As well as releases on Osiris Music, Lioncharge, and Ruffcut, Kaiju has made a monumental impact on the scene in the short time, and since their signing Deep Medi Musik, the duo is rapidly growing beyond London.
Samba and Ishan Sound complete the bill, two names which you won’t forget this year after multiple releases on Tectonic and Young Echo to name a few, before their Deep Medi Musik signing. Rider Shafique, Jamakabi and Sun of Selah are set for MC duties.
Over in Room 2, Hackney-based radio crew Subtle FM invite the latest talents from the worlds of garage, hip hop & more to whip up a storm with Slimzee, L U C Y, Riz La Teef, Zha and Subtle FM DJs, each of whom are likely to upend the place. MCs Logan & JoSoSick round off the R2 schedule.
