It is with great pleasure that we return to celebrate this joyous occasion with an extremely special guest, so influential to our movement.
On Friday, August 2nd, we welcome the living legend, Wally Badarou to perform live at The Bussey Building.
Wally will perform for the first time in the UK, a live solo set running through his classics and new work.
With a cult following for his own productions that remains strong today, the list of musicians he's also worked and recorded with reads as a who's who of the biggest musicians of the 1980s. From Fela Kuti, to Grace Jones, Sly & Robbie, Gwen Guthrie, Herbie Hancock, Talking Heads & Mick Jagger to name a few.
For fans, and newcomers alike this will no doubt this will be a gig to remember.
Supporting Wally will be Dele Sosimi & Medlar performing their new collaborative live project.
Dele having started out playing keys for Fela Kuti's Egypt 80 remains one of the most important musicians in the international afrobeat community today.
We're also super pleased to welcome back Medlar, a regular guest at Zonk from the beginning.
Dancefloor dynamics continue through the night with your DJ hosts Sam Hardaker of Zero 7(!) El and Del, Svelte and the Zonk.Allstars playing Disco music old and new.
10pm - 5am
