Mad Racket brings in the end of the decade with the debut Australian visit of Parisian super-producer and DJ, monsieur Pépé Bradock, also known as Julien Auger. Beginning his journey into the music world in his mid teens, Julien started out playing guitar in various Parisian funk bands in the 80’s, and went on to hip hop DJing and production. In the early 90’s, as he was exposed to the growing rave scene, he discovered techno and house music. His early house productions were as Trankilou, later as Pepe, and he sits among the few names who brought the French house scene to the world in the 90’s, alongside Étienne de Crécy, Cassius and Daft Punk. His track Deep Burnt is still a deep house staple, however he is not one to regurgitate the same sound in hope of a future hit. In fact it is quite the reverse, as he continues to push the boundaries of electronic music in unexpected directions, as witnessed by his recent remix compilation Confiote de Bits (BBE).
