AWOL throw a stacked Halloween party as part of our 20th birthday. The leading outfit been putting on killer drum & bass and jungle parties in London since the early 90s, and there’s a good reason they’re still going strong. For their XX showcase with us, they assemble an A-star team of jungle’s innovators to perform. Micky Finn has been around since the heyday of breakbeat and hardcore, and he’s set to bring his classic junglist sound to our space. Flanking him are Brockie & Det, the DJ and MC partnership who’ve long dominated the drum & bass scene via Kool FM and beyond. Scene pioneer and Farringdon regular Kenny Ken makes a return, while Dr S Gachet, Darren Jay and Devious D round things off. Hosting comes courtesy of some of the genre’s most respected MCs ever: GQ, Fearless, Moose, 2Shy and Navigator.
Room Two celebrates 170BPM club music at its most energetic, inviting a full crew of jump-up specialists. Logan D brings the sound of Low Down Deep to the space, while hosting is handled by one of the genre’s longstanding stalwarts, Harry Shotta. Azza & Grima also return alongside Playaz favourite Sub Zero, plus Phantasy, Ego Trippin, Subsonic and Ripraw all prep to step into the booth. IC3, Ragga Twins and Phantom also handle mic duties for the evening.
In Room Three, we invite a bunch of promising talents repping the future of the UK’s underground music movement: Martin Larner, Workshop 10, Redhot, Smasher, Dappa, Kofi B, BB Brown, and JONI. UK garage specialist Larner leads things alongside Smasher and Dappa, plus a string of EC1 debutants complete what should be a night of lively Halloween edition in our XX series.
