To celebrate three years of not-fucking-around, the storied mid-Atlantic techno beat-down is honored to host STERAC. It is a match that is as artful as it is logical: STERAC, after all, represents the darker, deeper sonic dimension of the legendary godfather of Dutch techno, producer-selector Steve Rachmad — an individual known for his varied and incredibly textured presentation of dancefloor trips to suit all tastes. Tried and true underground techno heads recognize in SEQUENCE a similarly distinguished journey through just about every flavor of the genre. So three years in, the crew proudly delivers a trustworthy headliner that is all at once mesmerizing, heady, shadowy, funky, and always pleasingly brutal. STERAC’s recent releases on labels like Klockworks and Token reveal the energy and dynamism bottled up in this alter ego. And his unforgettable Movement set at the RA Underground Stage in 2017 served up a representative array of brass tacks techno that DC now has the good fortune to get down to in real time. In Room 2, SEQUENCE will continue its beatless offspring, Isolated Paradise. For this second iteration, two artists heavily involved in Baltimore techno will join some familiar faces. cc80, better known as Aphreaq, recently sent SEQUENCE a few demos, and it was immediately clear that his live set would be a highlight in a room thick with ambient bliss. Joining him for a rare DJ set is Bastet, whose recent live performance was a highlight of Artscape in Baltimore. Adding to the Charm City roster, SEQUENCE found some DC favorites to round out the bill. Lyceum is a bass, DnB, and deep techno stalwart whose effortless transition among genres make his presentation of ambient selections one not to be missed. Finally, and with no introduction needed, SEQUENCE invites Damon Bradley for an ambient set that will no doubt be filled with the kind of emotion that created so many highlights during SEQUENCE.820. And like that last party, this one is absolutely brimming with talent and has been designed in the spirit of celebration, just as it began that hot August night three years ago. __________________________________ Absolutely zero tolerance for sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, unsolicited touching, or any other oppressive behavior.
