- Search Festival returns for three days over New Years in our wonderful little universe of Utopia — a lush cradle of trees, dam and soul near the quiet town of Swellendam (close to Cape Town, South Africa). What is Search? It's a festival about what can be found. Finding friends, finding (great) music, finding beauty, finding truth, finding distractions, finding love, finding fun, finding the new year, and finding solace in being you. It's the search for celebration. The search for the potent amplifiers in music and friendship we know exists, and all strive for. The search for an infinite moment held in the palm of your hand. It's the search for a dance floor that never falters. It's the search for you, it's the search for me. Music runs Monday, 30th December – Wednesday, 1st January (happy New Year!) but everyone can camp until the 2nd if they'd like (because hey, it's a beautiful place and you should be on holiday). Camping runs Sunday, 29th December – Thursday, 2nd January. Search has been a DIY affair with no sponsors or corporate presence for the past 6 iterations of the festivals, and this year is no different. We are friends creating something beautiful for others. We build on a culture of volunteering and participation to help run the festival — for now, you can get in touch with us to volunteer at [email protected] Please take note: Those who exhibit, or have a history of, racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, ageist, and/or physically/sexually/verbally aggressive behaviour will be removed from the party and potentially barred from future events.
