Black Merlin is the project of the British George Thompson. Follower of field recording and author of many releases experimenting different nooks of electronic music, it is his album Hipnotik Tradisi and his singular way of assimilating the traditional Balinese music which lifts the veil on this full-fledged artist. DJ talent, his universe is rich, hypnotic and dancing between EBM, techno tinted industrial and space disco.

At heart he is a vinyl collector and his DJ sets combine an open minded, raw and hypnotic techno sound. At the age of 14, Johannes came into contact with Detroit Techno. He began to explore records and started DJing. It was not long after that an obsessed Johannes began producing his own music. His first record was released on Jeff Mills’s Axis Records in 2006. In 2011 he decided to start his own label ‘Exploration’. The imprint is dedicated to conceptual techno and science-fiction music and has given him full creative freedom.
During the last years Johannes gained a lot of experience as a DJ and played gigs in many places in Europe, such as Berghain, Corsica Studios, Concrete, Panorama Bar, Tresor, Rex Club and many more.

FAKA - Live

FAKA, a cultural movement established by Fela Gucci and Desire Marea, has come to represent more than the “performance art duo” descriptor that has defined the collective since their inception in 2015.
The artists explore a combination of mediums ranging from sound, live performance, literature, video and photography, to create an eclectic aesthetic with which they express their ideas about themes central to their experience as black queer bodies navigating the cis-hetero-topia of post-colonial Africa.
In October 2017, FAKA released their much anticipated sophomore EP titled Amaqhawe, a three track offering that “explores the intricacies of love and romance within the black queer experience, with songs touching on everything from self-love, unrequited love, childhood love and transactional love.”
