Phonica celebrates its 6th anniversary on December 12th, having survived in a digital era that's unfortunately caused many others to perish. Its been a good year for the shop with the launch of their eponymous record label and three releases already down the line with exciting new records and mixes planned for 2009. The Soho electronica retreat has chosen to reward its loyal customers by arranging a top-notch line-up for a party at T-Bar, and all for free!!
Following on from the Get Physical joint event on November 28th, Phonica will be adding some birthday spirit to their monthly event at East London venue the T-Bar with an extra 2 hours and an extra room all night.....and some choice guests. Amsterdam’s Lauhaus has been one of the biggest remixers and producers this year, coming from the same Dutch techno scene that brought us 2000 And One and Shinedoe. A long time friend of Phonica, he remixed Tolfrey & Ramirez’s “Bounce to Me” on the Phonica label, making for our biggest seller to date. His no-nonsense take on the tech-house sound will be one of the highlights of the night.
Also joining us from Remote Area is David Labeij – one half of Polder with Lauhaus – David will be doing his own solo live set. Dutch minimalist house producer David Labeij (1978) has been earning an inordinate amount of attention of late – his sound is best described as a funky hybridization of the various strains of house he's been exposed to, with a extra dollop of playfulness and invention.
Not only that but we have the full team of Phonica all-stars playing. Long-time Phonica counter man Hector has had a successful year with releases on Horizontal, Mobilee and Phonica itself, and has new ones on the way for leading house label 8-Bit too! Anthea, not content with given us one of the house tracks of the year, “Caedmon Loop” on Cecille – a huge anthem at Sven Vath’s Cocoon residency in Ibiza - also delivered a top Phonica release with her JC Freaks project with Werner Niedermeier and many other releases with Alex Celler on Freak N Chic.
The rest of the staff will be joining them for a special birthday party session celebrating 6 years of supporting new electronic music..
