  • For the first edition of new event series FOCAL, Berghain regular and Ostgut Ton associate Ryan Elliot plays at Patterns. His sets are a classy mix of groove-laden techno and dynamic house, a combination sure to rock any dance floor.
  • Having made our mark on Brighton's music scene for 4 + years now, striving to provide this city with the best music week-in-week-out we thought we'd turn the focus on our residents a little more. Here-in comes FOCAL, a new series for Patterns kicking off with two stellar events this winter. The idea is simple, each resident will in time invite an artist they have a connection with to play with them all night long. FOCAL will not be defined by set times; each party will unravel naturally. --- Saturday 12th October Charles Green invites Ryan Elliott (Ostgut Ton) to launch the series. Charles' involvement with 10 Marine Parade precedes the days of Patterns a lengthy stint that sees him established as a cornerstone of Brighton's club scene. Having DJ'd and run parties at Patterns since the start, outside of the club he is building a reputation for producing raw, funked up analogue techno. Following impactful releases on Four Triangles and Revenge Techniques, Charles has been tapped by Ben Sims for a track on his 'Tribology' compilation and a forthcoming EP in the new year. Having booked Ryan to play at his First-Floor party twice in Brighton, and following the artist as a fan for years, it came to us naturally to have him as the first guest. Ryan Elliott's early days included legendary residencies at Ann Arbor's Goodnight Gracies and Detroit's Shelter, which paved the way for a now rigorous international touring schedule. He began working crowds at clubs and festivals around the world, from NYC's Guggenheim Museum to Barcelona's Sonar by Night, Amsterdam's Awakenings to many UK appearances counting Field Manuveres, fabric, Corsica Studios as a select few. 2009 saw Elliott relocate to Berlin, a place where he could further his focus on DJing and production, a move that led to him landing a residency at The Berghain/Panorama Bar to which he still retains to this date. Ryan Elliott's bassline-driven techno and house sound is thoughtfully calibrated to drive the dance-floor, a meticulous calculator of vibe and crowd attitude puts the Ostgut Ton affiliate out there as one of the best. Hot off the back of announcing his new record label 'Faith Beat', we can't wait to see what the rest of the year has for Ryan and what he brings to the booth with Charles. --- The upstairs bar will be sound-tracked by fellow resident Momo. Known best for her appearances at one of Brighton's best parties, Discojuice and now her regular slot on Balamii Radio. Her style traverses the more unusual, rhythm and percussion-focused areas of dance music - mixing everything from squeaky leftfield house to gritty techno into melodic pop vocals. The two parties will see her stretch her sound to fit the laid-back settings of the ground floor bar.
