  • East Village is a venue that's welcomed its share of the serious heads over its time, with pioneers like DJ Sneak, Quentin Harris, and Derrick Carter. So not to be outdone, for Catzmuzik's next gig at EV, we've invited one of New York City's originals, Abe Duque, to roll out his killer live set. It's so good DJ T asked Abe to guest at his birthday this year at Panorama Bar, calling Abe "a living legend" and writing about it extensively for the launch of his beatportal blog. http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item/dj-t-tour-blog-week-1. Who is he? Abe came out of the Limelight, the notorious New York Club responsible for party animal Michael Alig and the club kids - a group so mental that they make a crazy afternoon at Shoreditch's afterparties look like a quiet walk out in the park with your mother. But what really made him famous was his collaboration with Blake Baxter, What Happened? - a track that sold 25,000 copies on vinyl alone and catapulted Abe into the techno stratosphere. Since then, he's played nearly every major venue worldwide multiple times, and again this year for the launch of his most new album Don't Be So Mean this year. From the 10,000 capacity Fabrik Spain to Warehouse702 Japan to Alland Byallo's KONTROL in San Francisco to London's own Fabric - Abe's been there, dropped his killer live set, and walked away with the crowd screaming. East Village is the most intimate venue he's played in some time... Come see the show close up in EV's amazing downstairs box room - with its pretty much perfect sound. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Abe-Duque/90121941228 Supports will be Catzmuzik's ringleader Dan Cat, whose new tracks Winterslow and That Was Hot getting props from Luke Solomon, Slam, Severino of Horse Meat Disco, Shir Khan, and a call of "genius" by US weird-music blog WKPD.... once again Dan plays alongside keyboard collaborator SL1. He's joined by London regular and Playtime Records label manager Big Daddy. Upstairs, meanwhile, it's a mashup of disco, UK funky, dub and classic house with Rosco Cartier, dub genius Will Skillz, Mark Sun and Balt and his Amazing Dancing Disco Shoes. More info - www.catzmuzik.com or register on facebook for concession entry. £10 on the door, £8 concession, £5 for the first 50 people to register.
