INTERZONE is New York City’s new festival dedicated to wild electronic sounds, and is presented collaboratively by six enduring local curators: Confused House, Lost Soul Enterprises, Nothing Changes, Quo Vadis, Synthicide and Weird Science. INTERZONE traverses assorted mutations of techno, electro, industrial, wave, experimental and beyond; its aim is to connect the dots between a myriad of sonic experiences across a long weekend while fostering a creative dialogue among artists and attendees. Each festival event is put together by one or two of our curators in a way that showcases their individual aesthetic, while contributing to the communal spirit of INTERZONE.
The weekend begins with a free opening party on Thursday at Bossa Nova Civic Club in Bushwick with DAVIDE GUALANDI, MAEDON (live), SHAWN O’SULLIVAN and KATIE REX. The following day, our box office opens at GOOD ROOM on Friday afternoon for pass holders as INTERZONE moves into its weekend home in Greenpoint with GR as its home base. We then take over the basement of BROOKLYN BAZAAR in the early evening; SYNTHICIDE sets up in the cellar and features performances from XARAH DION (live), PHYSICAL WASH (live), KONTRAVOID (live) and AUTUMNS (live). In the adjacent disco room, San Francisco’s Black Lodge crew takes over with an extended b2b from FORCE PLACEMENT and KOSMIK. LOST SOUL ENTERPRISES then presents its first club program at Good Room, in collaboration with SYNTHICIDE, with NOT WAVING (live), CRASH COURSE IN SCIENCE (live), LOKIER, PASIPHAE, and SYBIL JASON; the Bad Room lineup for the night is DUNGEON ACID (live), MX SILKMAN, AND MYN B2B R GAMBLE.
Saturday rumbles back to life with the box office and day program at Good Room, featuring panel discussions with BASE CAMP BETA. Later in the afternoon, WEIRD SCIENCE hosts OKO DJ, SSPS (live), ROBERT VALERA (live) and AMOURETTE B2B MSCLN at MAGICK CITY. Down the street at SAINT VITUS, NOTHING CHANGES’ showcase includes VOID VISION (live), STATIQBLOOM (live), NGHTCRWLR (live) and more TBA. Back at Good Room, LOST SOUL ENTERPRISES dives into its second late night party with VERONICA VASICKA, JENSEN INTERCEPTOR, GALAXIAN (live), BEZIER (live), and ROSE E KROSS. Meanwhile, L.SANGRE, NIHAL RAMCHANDANI, HEIDI SABERTOOTH (live), & SCALLYWAG hold it down in the Bad Room.
Sunday begins with IZ CINEMA, which will be a showing of various short films and a live performance by ESPTV. WEIRD SCIENCE returns for a second day-into-night at MAGICK CITY with KIERNAN LAVEAUX, J.A.Z. and MAROJE T. Quo Vadis takes over Good Room for an evening program from BLACKLAUREN, ABBY ECHIVERRI (live), HIRO KONE (live) and SAMUEL KERRIDGE (live). CONFUSED HOUSE then closes the weekend out, where this wild weekend began at Bossa Nova Civic Club, with a blockbuster free lineup of LEILA BORDREUIL (live), WETWARE (live), VIA APP (live), CIARRA BLACK (live), DREW MCDOWALL (live), DREAMCRUSHER (live) and ALEX FROM QUEENS.
A curated program of video and sculpture installations will accompany the various events, as well as additional daytime programming on Saturday and Sunday consisting of panels, workshops and screenings at our Good Room IZ HQ.
