Emerging from Montevideo, Z@p sits at the vanguard of a handful of artists that have elevated the Uruguayan city to its status as one of the globe’s most exciting hotspots for forward-thinking electronic music. He has been an essential product of electronic music in the country for over a decade alongside the likes of DJ Koolt, Melina Serser, Nicolas Lutz or Omar to name a few. Growing up in Montevideo, Z@P is nowadays a fundamental member and lifelong resident at what is now one of South America’s most respected underground nightclubs - Phonotheque.
Z@p’s mastery of his craft is undeniable. His break-heavy blend of driving electro, house and techno, is delivered with unerring power and poignancy: the outcome of a sonic language that has been carefully honed for over a decade. With a momentum and quality that eclipses what most aspire to in the entirety of a career, the past three years alone have seen Z@P release knockout EPs on labels including Melliflow, Traffic, Cartilus, Phonoteque and Cabaret and most recently My Own Jupiter.
With an innate understanding of what excites and inspires, Z@P is a DJ that consistently surprises and inspires. Balancing the considered with the spontaneous, his sets are ripe with selections that speak volumes. It comes as no surprise that Z@P has resonated with the denizens of the world’s most influential dancefloors, including Hoppetosse, Club der Visionaere, Robert Johnson, Closer and ReSolute.
Losing Control is chuffed to welcome Z@P to Melbourne for his debut Austalian tour.
On the night he will be joined by the Syrupp brains trust Chaz and Heath. They’ve thrown a number of parties together and run the Syrup podcast. Their Djing is informed by an uncompromising approach and passion for all things deep.
