  • Psyché Tropes presents a Zoetropic 5" release party LIVE Sculpture Janek Schaefer Mariam Rezaei 7pm - Midnight £5 on the door Sculpture meets Psyché Tropes for a post-transitory broadcast in reductionist methodology, exploring the non-standard definitions from the other side. Join us at The Old Baths in Hackney Wick for the official release of Projected Music, a 5-inch locked groove picture disc with live performances by Sculpture, Janek Schaefer & Mariam Rezaei plus an ensemble of 26 Turntables for 26 Locked Grooves. SCULPTURE Sculpture is electronic music producer, Dan Hayhurst, and visual artist, Reuben Sutherland, on a freewheeling excursion through temporary forms of digital composition, analogue electronics, comic strips, sci-fi, pop, psychedelia and multisensory perception. Discovering transitory possibilities in live A/V performance is central. Utilizing an ever expanding library of zoetropic prints, Sutherland’s visual turntablism combines pre-cinema imaging with cutting-edge digital techniques in hallucinatory loops and jumps. There’s a clear connection with Hayhurst’s unstable sonics, free associations that gleefully defy convention in pursuit of a unique internal logic. https://plasticinfinite.com/ JANEK SCHAEFER Sound Artist, & Entertainer Janek Schaefer was born in England to Polish and Canadian parents in 1970. While studying architecture at the Royal College of Art [RCA annual prize], he created 'Recorded Delivery' [1995] using a sound activated dictaphone travelling overnight through the Post Office. That work was made for the 'Self Storage' exhibition [Time Out critics choice] with one time postman Brian Eno and Artangel. Since then the multiple aspects of sound became his focus, resulting in many site-specific installations, exhibition/dance/short film soundtracks, albums and concerts using his self built record players with manipulated found sound collage. The 'Tri-phonic Turntable' [1997] is in the Guinness Book of Records. He has performed, lectured and exhibited widely throughout Europe [Sonar, Tate Modern, Pompidou, CCCB], China, USA/Canada [The Walker, XI, Mutek, Princeton], Japan, and Australia [Sydney Opera House]. http://www.JanekSchaefer.com MARIAM REZAEI Mariam Rezaei is a turntablist, performer and improviser, working predominantly with the piano, voices, turntables and electronics.
