For this BBE Music Saturday in-store, we welcome Truth & Lies Music: DJs, event curators, agitators, producers and champions of international music and culture.
Ex-Friendly (Justin) and Joff have been busy since their creation in 2013. From residencies at Rough Trade Nottingham, curating and running loads of events, supporting leading international acts such as Aux 88, the Sun Ra Arkestra, BCUC and the Hot 8 Brass Brand as well as headlining the Trenchtown Stage at Africa Oye Festival for the last 5 years. In 2017, Craig Richards and Gottwood asked them to curate a stage at the inaugural Houghton Festival doing it again in 2018 with a standout 14 hour session under the title ‘Africa Is Everywhere’. As DJ Mag commented they “had people dancing on tables by early afternoon”. They were booked to take over Trevino’s at Houghton in 2019 but the weather put a dead stop on that which was a damn shame as The BBE Store’s own Marcio Martinez was booked to play with them!
For their takeover at The BBE Store, expect a 5 hour journey of international rhythms past and present - proper ‘no borders’ action...
