Memorex is synth-soloist David Lush. Performing live with all-analog vintage synth equipment, Memorex combines Factory Records-style drum machines and bass guitar with Mute Records sounding mono synth sounds for a futuristic take on post-punk and synth wave - somewhere between Section 25 and Cabaret Voltaire. Not content as a nostalgia act, Memorex’s lyrical content aims to remind the listener of the unsettling hierarchical possibilities offered by our decade-long obsession with our smart devices and their lasting social implications.

While some electronic musicians thrive within the bounds of genre, adding new chapters to the stories written by those who came before, Gabe Knox finds musical inspiration in exploring the loose threads and roads not taken. What if Klaus Dinger and Michael Rother had never left Kraftwerk? What if Vince Clarke had joined Spacemen 3? What if Juan Atkins took his rhythmic inspiration not from disco, but from Jaki Liebezeit? Knox’s most recent release, a compilation of songs from his first 3 EPs was recently featured in Electronic Sound magazine.
