Equaliser presents you the Kaifeng-born, Vancouver based composer, DJ, and sound artist Yu Su at Zhao Dai to kick start her ten-date tour of China.
Tapping into an expansive repertoire of “fourth world” ambience and left-field dance music, Yu Su’s emotion-packed compositional punches are her truthful approach to the ambiguity and self-reflection of “the Oriental”.
A proficient instrumentalist who conjures up moments of natural and synthetic beauty, her delicate, dub-inflected signature balances a variety of luminous downtempo textures with a purpose of. She is responsible for productions on DC’s People’s Potential Unlimited, NYC’s RVNG Intl. & Arcane, Music From Memory imprint Second Circle, and Ninja Tune imprint Technicolor. Praised for her diverse and emotive sets as a DJ, she has been touring across Europe, the US Asia, and most recently Australia in recent years, with stops in 2019 at Dekmantel, Off-Sonar, Nuits Sonores, Kala and more.

A stalwart of the thriving UK DIY scene and a resident of prime Beijing underground club Zhaodai, Slowcook needs little time to cast her spell. Thrown into a world of obsessive record collecting and marathon after parties whilst studying in Leeds, the imaginative selector made a name for herself as a central member of non-profit party collective Brudenell Groove before founding the explosive Equaliser community that has taken aim at male-dominated dancefloors. Digging deeper and casting a wider net than even the most voracious collectors, her penchant for the strange doesn’t acknowledge trends so much as redefine them. Whether dropping writhing acid lines, 2-step riddims or the most immersive jazz, her approach remains unchanged: stimulus for the brain, power for the feet.

Electronic music enthusiast, independent comic artist, resident DJ of Beijing key underground club Zhaodai and party label Tunnel. During her arts creation, T.K.L enjoys diving into the abstract atmosphere created by hypnotic and psychedelic music in reality. On the dance floor, she always brings her visual imagination stimulated by Ambient, Minimal, Techno, Acid, Deep music to the space and the moment.
