[CANCELLED] Memory Box with Andy Meecham, Saytek, Craigie Knowes, Robin Ball

  • Two synth & drum machine masters – ANDREW MEECHAM of The Emperor Machine, Chicken Lips, Bizarre Inc and Future Four will be playing at Memory Box along with the mighty SAYTEK at Corsica Studios on 4 April. We’re excited to be able to present ANDREW MEECHAM in all his guises as he performs a special LIVE set incorporating music from all of his legendary groups. SAYTEK returns to Memory Box for the third time aligned with his heavyweight remix for the Memory Box label with one of his innovative LIVE sets. Support comes from Memory Box head honcho Robin Ball. Plus bringing their unique sound to room 2 are Craigie Knowes who Memory Box site as one of the best record labels out there. ROOM 1 The Emperor Machine is Meecham’s current solo project since 2003 with an album coming out on Skint in March. While Andy is happy to plough towards the future, we still have some serious history to contemplate. Meecham’s band with long-time conspirator Dean Meredith, Bizarre Inc, was one of the most successful of their generation and 1991’s ‘Playing With Knives’ was a staple in all self-respecting DJs bag that year. As Chicken Lips, they re-emerged in 1999 with joyously dubbed out originals and fiendishly clever remixes leading the vibrant disco tek scene of the noughties. In 2013 Future Four was born Initially a solo project and later a collaboration with Erol Alkan capturing the excitement, diversity, strangeness and harmony of the UK underground sound of the early 90s. Saytek After tearing up two Memory Box parties with his innovative, improvised live set, Saytek lands on the Memory Box label with a remix aligned with his third live set at Memory Box. He is, of course, a hardware master who speaks through his machines and has done so for many years to great acclaim. Amongst his many industry supporters, he has become a firm favourite of the legendary Carl Cox, who has released music from him and been extremely vocal in his praise, calling him “One of the UK’s freshest & most exciting acts”. Support comes from Memory Box head honcho Robin Ball whose next release on the Memory Box label has had the honour of Saytek’s master techno touch. Robin has been involved in the dance scene since the age of 14 when he first started his own parties. Since then he has emerged as a singular voice with a discography that takes in essential cuts all the way back to the mid-nineties. A fine recent run of tunes under his own name have helped establish this label (and party) as a vital modern outlet with the likes of Nina Kraviz, B.Traits, The Black Madonna and Ben Sims all having supported. Room 2 Craigie Knowes are one of the most exciting labels out there. Their freestyle approach makes them the perfect room 2 accompaniment to Robin Ball’s Robin Beats pseudonym that he uses for his more abstract techno, acid and breakbeat adventures. Check Craigie Knowes on their applauded monthly Rinse FM show, and it’s well worth viewing their recent Boiler Room set. Memory Box say: "It’s a magical moment when we can present artists with which we feel such an affinity to. Their timeless underground musical choices, releases and love of playing tough acid-tinged house, techno, electro and breakbeat is definitely akin to Memory Box vibes."
