Delusions Of Grandeur

  • Delusions of Grandeur needs no introduction to those following the contemporary house scene. A London based label responsible for releasing some of the best deep, raw and underground house since it's inception 10 years ago. With releases from Session Victim, 6th Borough Project, Recloose, Uffe, Tornado Wallace, Toby Tobias, Ben Sun, Son Of Sound, Adesse Versions, Franc Spangler, Norm De Plume & thatmanmonkz it's easy to see why they've become such an influential imprint to so many. On 21st December London's favourite Aussie house import Ben Sun flies back to his homeland for a special one-off Delusions of Grandeur label night at Tokyo Sing Song alongside label-mate & Sydney's favourite UK house import: Norm De Plume. BEN SUN Collecting and playing music since he could string a sentence together, Ben Sun originally from Adelaide started putting out records in 2010 on the Voyeurhythm imprint, a label he co-founded in London. He caught some notoriety with the heavy duty piano-disco single Salty Tears, and went on to release a string of EPs on Delusions of Grandeur (five to date), winding up in the record bags of people like Larry Heard, Gerd Janson and a diverse bunch of respected underground DJs the world over. Ben has a natural affinity with affordable old hardware and vinyl, with the MPC60 at the core of many of his early productions (the atmospheric grooves of tracks like You Should Know Better and Phantoms). Moving forward he began to explore a more instrumental electronic sound; analog synths and hardware sequencing for live arrangements, peppered with improvisations. Evident in his LP for London’s Utopia Records, under the alias Earth Patterns. Ben released his, and Voyeurhythm's 2nd LP in 2017 – a nine track album that spans the range of styles he’s recorded to date, including some moody soul cuts, electro pop and deep house jams. Ben has remixed Reggie Dokes (on Royal Oak), Quantic (Tru Thoughts), San Soda and most recently Kraak and Smaak for long-time friends Razor-n-Tape in NYC. As a DJ, expect a crate full of personal and emotive selections with a healthy disregard for genre cliches. Tending towards the raw and stripped back, with bags of soul and a deeply rooted dance sensibility. NORM DE PLUME Norm De Plume started DJ'ing in 1996 moving to London to DJ and work in the music industry in 2001, playing Deep & Underground House & Disco in the UK's capital for the following 16 years. He cites his biggest influences as Ron Hardy, Theo Parrish and Sound Stream. He’s worked for Jimpster’s Freerange Records and Delusions of Grandeur labels since 2003, producing and presenting the Delusions Of Grandeur podcast for 6 years. In 2010 he launched his own vinyl-only imprint "Plumage". He's released EPs on Kolour Ltd, Delusions Of Grandeur, Black Riot & Plumage and has remixed Tornado Wallace & Shades Of Grey. His music has found global support from many DJs, producers and radio hosts. He's a regular at the Delusions Of Grandeur label parties at Fabric, Corsica Studio's & The Victoria in London & his international touring has taken him across northern Europe, to South America and Australasia. Norm relocated to Sydney in 2017 and co-hosts Sydney’s 1st audiophile sound dance party Peaches & Prunes at East Sydney Community & Arts Centre & other venues around the city. Playing mostly vinyl his sound is a mixture of deep, filtered dubby & underground house, disco edits and original disco 12s. ///////////////FREE ENTRY!\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
