Slagwerk: M.E.S.H. / Thoom / Felix Lee / Buga

  • 💮 M.E.S.H http://bit.ly/m_e_s_h_ As a co-resident of Berlin club night Janus, M.E.S.H. has been constantly active bringing fragmented rhythms to the dancefloor and refiguring club dynamics on records such as Share The Blame and Scythians. His debut full-length, Piteous Gate, was a bold step forward, leaving behind much of the dance-informed elements of his previous work and creating an unpredictable, sometimes frightening album of oblique, theatrical sound-stages. Violent cinematic effects enshroud ornate, virtual-acoustic instrumentation, with an eerie calm ebbing beneath the flux — a sense of shocked ambivalence. 💮 Felix Lee http://bit.ly/felix_lee Felix Lee, formerly known as Lexxi, made his debut appearance on Total Freedom’s 2012 “Blasting Voice“ compilation, and as a co-producer on Elysia Crampton’s “Demon City“ album. He then went on to release his first instrumental EP “5TARB01” in 2016 on his own imprint Endless. He also runs an NTS show of the same name, along with previously holding raves, cross pollinating and interacting with the vanguard of the electronic underground. His latest output 'Inna Daze' features include Drain Gang members Ecco2k and Whitearmor, Yayoyanoh, Quantum Natives’ Oxhy, and Gaika, as well as Felix making his debut as a vocalist, his voice filtered through effects to give it a slippery, steam-like texture, echoing around the songs, giving them a second skin of sensed abstraction. 💮 Thoom http://bit.ly/thoom_ Thoom is a project born in Tarik Jdideh, raised in Chicago, IL, and based in Berlin. Tracing this international journey as listeners, we wont be surprised to find shattered traces of digital Arabic percussion and rhythm mixed with aggressive arrangements that call forth the metallic repetition of midwest American industry. Somehow, though, when all motion screeches to a halt, we find we are somewhere else entirely. That is because the Thoom project, just like the woman behind it all, is expansive, eclectic and nomadic. With the landing of her debut EP “Blood and Sand” in 2017 on Bay Area-based label Club Chai, Thoom established a sonic ground-zero. She creates an audiovisual meditation that is equal parts masculine and feminine, militant and libidinal, familiar and uncanny.
