Sylvia is about oozing deep and dubby techno shaped by love of vinyl and analog instruments. Characterized by the warmth of Chicago's house roots, M. Sylvia's style is a dark, dubby sound sworn to explore the beauty of the present moment. Spanning from minimal to experimental house, the main constants are a drift to the deep end and a selection to suit the mood, with prominent influences from her favorites: The Prodigy, Magda, and Loco Dice. M. Sylvia, Sylvia Dziemian, is a Polish-born transplant, who grew up in Chicago absorbing its love of art, music culture, and freedom of expression. Her music career was an unexpected development. She began DJ-ing around 2006 and never imagined it would become a career, only noticing she enjoyed it more than almost anything else. In retrospect, it was the moment she found her second skin. Many other life plans dissolved; everything began to revolve around music. Within a year of debuting on the Chicago dance music circuit, as part of the NORdjs collective, M. Sylvia gained residency at Chicago's renowned Sound-Bar, where the group maintained residency for the better part of a decade. A discerning ear, strong technical skills and a heartfelt approach to music selection render M. Sylvia's sets authentic, making her a prominent presence in Chicago. During her years at Sound-Bar, she also played at Spy Bar, Vision, Crobar, and multiple other iconic Chicago venues alongside global talent such as James Zabiela, Satoshi Tomiie, Marko Nastic, Jody Wisternoff, DJ Three, Chris Fortier, and many more. She spent 2017 as resident at one of Chicago's prominent underground venues, Primary. A regular at Spy Bar, in 2018 M. Sylvia added SmartBar and a solid set of Chicago warehouses to some of her favorite venues, sharing decks with Gel Abril, Nastia, Steve Bug, Jan Blomqvist, and closing the year off the year as part of Booka Shade's Chicago North American tour stop. Tenets of her production involve the living feel of analog instruments and experimentation. Currently giving studio time a heavy focus, you can find her original work and remix releases on The Pool House and Toxic Recordings labels. ||||||||| Across|The|Sun ||||||||| ATS is currently a Chicago based artist however growing up in Ukraine is where he first encountered electronic music. He started producing around 2007 using a primitive artistic outlet: default plug-in called Nero soundbox that came with the Nero burning ROM software. When asked about what made him get into the genre, he looks down for a few moments before explaining, "Looking back at it now I never thought or could have predicted that my life would revolve around composing and performing this style and genre of music." He further states, "Listening to different podcasts, radio broadcasts, and DJ mixes cemented my love for and connection to electronic music." His early tastes are broad and he is inspired by many genres, including house, electro, minimal, trance, drum and bass, and jungle. "Over time, these styles and forms of art amalgamated and led me back to explore where it all started, my house and minimal electronic roots." "You know, producing music professionally always seemed like a fantasy, but all of this changed for me when I moved to US and took my passion more seriously." ATS is currently building his reputation in Chicago, IL, where he is honing his skills using analog hardware production tool, expanding his vinyl music library and making friends along the way. "I really love listening to other artists' creative works, to me electronic music is the purest art form where anything is possible, the only limits are those we impose on our creativity ourselves. I believe in that special and unique sincerity and seriousness of electronic music and the craftsmanship that goes into quality production and performiance and want to connect with others who feel the same way about this art-form." ||||||||| NoteCodeLuv ||||||||| It takes a certain brand of confidence to name yourself after three towering intellectual concepts. Note is an English term and the basis of all music. Code is the association with science, experimentation, computers, electronics, creating something your own to add to the existing world art and machines. Luv is the derivative of the word Love, a universal concept that does not need explaining. Together they create the ideal of the total or universal artwork, bringing together music, the visual arts, narrative and more into a single intoxica. NoteCodeLuv specializes in minimal faded speak easy hip-hop vocals or original and provocative spoken word poetry gently overlaid on warm deeper house instrumentals. “NoteCodeLuv is an ambitious name,” he admits, “and it is something that just came to me when I was living in Toronto a few years ago. I want my music to be art, with something to say, but Notes and Coding is about details, massive music pieces, science and physics too. That means the small things, the tiny things that change everything, the detail. Just like a laboratory scientist who always keep questioning and refining their ideas. That’s what I strive towards.” “I don’t know why I’m drawn to dark sounds,” NoteCodeLuv admits. “It’s like when you make a movie about love or passion or any strong emotion,” he explains. “That’s not your life! It’s the art you have made! It’s a fiction! The music is exactly the same. Although there is nothing dark in my life, I have a facility to understand dark emotion.” ---------- The digital was created in 1945. Computer motherboards bring you the gifts of repetitive sound, something that we call music. We value privacy, living in the moment, and being yourself on the dance floor. While our events are recorded (audio and video for those who cannot be there (aka our domestically dispersed and international colleagues), we discourage phone use at our events. It’s all about the music, the moment, the feeling. Please note, we always strive to create a safe, positive, and supportive dance floor environment open to members of all genders and identities as well as electronic devices of all makes and models. This is a safe space for computer music to come together with humans. Members not adhering to this and being disruptive will be kindly asked to leave our events. We don't tolerate bullsh*t masochistic and sexist Top 40 club behavior. Our goal is to infuse the digital analog world with a touch of humanism through what humans call "dancing" and create magic. Our music is 1s and 0s. Let’s dance together to 1s and 0s. Sponsors: THE VOSTOK (VSTK) GROUP Black Vostok (черный восток) - VVO Dark Vostok (темный восток) - OVB Grim Vostok (мрачный восток) - DME
