  • Pull Up PDX + The People's Dispensary + Citrus CBD proudly present a celebration of the next era of deep dubstep and sound system music featuring the Portland debut of London's ascending premiere bad-gyal selecta duo SICARIA SOUND alongside local luminaries Lil Grenadine, FWD PDX crew, and PDX Mandem Sound by One Wub ... visuals by Hoistfeend = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Sicaria Sound https://soundcloud.com/sicariasound Rooted in London and with Moroccan & South Sudanese heritage respectively, Imbratura (Lou) & Ndeko (Sancha) have firmly established themselves as selectors of new and underground darker 140bpm sounds. Having first bonded over music at university whilst frequenting dances such as Deep Medi, SYSTEM & Contact, the pair have since aligned their musical interests. From Imbratura’s love for grime & dancehall to Ndeko’s foundations in roots & sound system culture, a love for music across the spectrum inspired both to have pursued careers in the music industry, going on to work as multimedia producers & sound engineers. Over the past few years that the pair have been DJing together, they've affirmed themselves as radio regulars championing existing & upcoming bass musicians - notably within the genres of dubstep & grime - through their previous monthly Radar Radio show, their current Rinse FM residency and guest appearances on BBC Radio 1 & 1xtra, NTS, Red Bull Radio, Reprezent and Red Light Radio. With past & forthcoming bookings including the likes of Fabric, Motion, Croydub, Outlook Festival and Lovebox Festival - as well as representing the Deep Medi Musik label as their resident DJs - you can expect plenty forthcoming from these two including some of their own productions & exciting collaborations. LIL GRENADINE https://soundcloud.com/lilgrenadine FWD PDX CREW https://soundcloud.com/fwdpdx Featuring Kellan, Bodie, Sedriss, Lantern Lit, Uncommon Sense and Doomsday, FWD PDX happens every other Tuesday at White Owl Social Club in SE Portland. It's become the hub in Portland for subversive deep bass-ology, offering up a melange of dubstep, grime, garage, wave and halftime to the PDX massive. PDX MANDEM www.soundcloud.com/pdxmandem https://xray.fm/shows/pdx-mandem Hailing from Portland the PDX Mandem have a long history of being involved in drum- and bass-centric music. Founding & core members producer/engineer/drummer/DJ, Skelli Skel and bassist/DJ, EmVKush played together in a progressive jazz metal band nearly 15 years ago and now find themselves focusing on the roots and foundation of music as we know it; rhythm and bass. Skelli Skel, who draws heavy influence from UK Garage and Bay Area rap like Mac Dre, is also very involved in the Hip Hop community in Portland, having provided production and engineering for the likes of Grape God, Slick Devious, Ripley Snell, and other known and respected Portland MC's & artists. Along with studying music in Denver, Colorado in college, EmVKush has also been a long time bass player in the Portland community for the last 15 years and has travelled all over the US to play shows and record on different projects. With a weekly radio show (Beats, Bass & Beyond) on Portland's cutting edge and community centered radio station, XRAY.FM, the PDX Mandem plan to continue to showcase their own music and productions along with the incredible amount of artistry and talent hailing from Portland, the west coast, the rest of the United States and beyond. THE PEOPLE'S DISPENSARY We created The People’s Dispensary in 2016 because the medicinal herb market was not serving our needs as people of color, women, queer people, veterans, formerly incarcerated and people with chronic illnesses. We started in Oakland thinking we’d serve a few hundred of our friends – but we quickly developed a loyal, diverse, active client base of almost 4,500 members, with a monthly retention rate of 84%. As we began to expand, however, we realized we were only solving part of the problem. The medicinal herb industry was (and still is) exploding, but the communities we served which make up the largest segment of this industry, were not being reflected in the new, legal cannabis market. Here is what we know: - Communities that surround the dispensary create the most value for our company. - Communities that know we are invested in their wellness and health are our best brand ambassadors. - Communities that see us providing workforce development and workforce opportunities will invest in our success because we are invested in theirs. - Communities that buy from us understand our commitment to them. The medicinal herb industry is projected to become a $500 billion market. The People’s Dispensary takes this unique opportunity to bring, the best medicinal herbs to its communities, financial wealth to its investors and create many opportunities to uplift the communities it serves.
