Bring your finest looks: from leather to glitter & from fetish to vanilla, we want you feeling fun, flirty, n’ festive at SPANK. First up on the headlining bill is Medellín's Julianna. For the past decade, Julianna has been an active member in the development of her local underground scene through her Move parties as a promotor and NÓTT, a feminist collective that tackles gender inequality and raises awareness of women in the electronic music scene in Latin America. Recently, Julianna's artistry behind the decks have been displayed on the international circuit from Berlin staples, Berghain, Tresor, and ://aboutblank, Concrete in Paris, and Boiler Room. Her sound bounces from heavy-hitting to otherworldly, effortlessly swinging audiences to new directions throughout the night. Julianna's rapid rise shows no signs of slowing down and we are excited to have her with us for the third anniversary of the Women's March in DC. Our next guest brings us stateside with the self proclaimed "Underground and Black,” Detroit native via ATL Ash Lauryn. "I'm underground and black and I'm true to this shit." Such a quote displays her commitment and pride for the historical roots of electronic dance music, especially Detroit house and techno. For Ash, culture preservation and representation in electronic music are important, which is the focus of her blog and NTS radio show. Ash Lauryn joins the evening program offering a DJ set lined of pure Americana electronica. We top off the bill with residents from each of our crews: Juana of SEQUENCE and TNX’s DJ Lisa Frank. TNX has led the way in building intentional, dreamy, and uplifting queer underground moments in DC, transforming some of the District’s more peculiar spots into all-night-caves & otherworldly discotheques of queer revelry. While SEQUENCE, the local team of rave-rats putting on the District’s zaniest techno parties in DC’s odd corners. Together, TNX and SEQUENCE present an all-night warphole rave for the die-hard community of Washington’s wildest. __________________________________ Absolutely zero tolerance for sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, unsolicited touching, leering, or any other oppressive behavior.
