- Combine a marimba with electronics and it’s a big bang guaranteed, an explosion both controlled and enhanced by two exceptionally talented women. The former is a classically-trained, yet spiced-up percussionist and marimbist; the latter has always been into electronic music and is internationally renowned. Bulgarian artist Vassilena Serafimova and French musician Chloé Thévenin (DJ Chloé) met and sought to climb out of their comfort zones by combining their seemingly antagonistic universes. The result is huge: They invite us to an endless dialogue in their project Sequenza, featuring sequential, repetitive music that thrills, soothes and immerses us in deep contemplation. Their journey into the territory of Steve Reich and Philip Glass showcases a shared, almost novel language that we couldn’t just qualify as cerebral since it stirs up our most intimate emotions. Antigel has invited Association Lueur. Created in 2018 in Annecy, Lueur aims to foster diversity and equality through electronic music by promoting female artists and/or artists from minorities, since electronic music is viewed as a great vector for openness that provides new areas of freedom and bridges between genres and various performance formats.
