- Irregular Fit would like to acknowledge that this event takes place on stolen land. We acknowledge and pay our respect to the Traditional Owners of the Land , the Gadigal People of the Eora Nation, and their Elders past, present and emerging. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- For our first event of 2020, we welcome TYGAPAW for a 2 hour DJ masterclass and DJ set. We are heartbroken about the ongoing climate catastrophe and bushfires and will be donating all proceeds from the event and sale of Irregular Fit Totes to FIRE + AAA. FIRE (Fighting in Resistance Equally) is an Aboriginal-led collective dedicated to the furthering of all struggles against colonialism. Over the course of the past year, FIRE has been leading a community-based, direct action response to the devastating drought on Gomeroi country (North-West NSW). Through continuous consultation with local Gomeroi elders, and a steady influx of volunteer labour, so far over 200000L of water has been provided to communities fighting to survive colonial damage and climate catastrophe. Money raised will go directly towards funding these ongoing efforts. ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️ TYGAPAW (NY) https://soundcloud.com/tygapaw TYGAPAW (Dion Mckenzie) is a multi-disciplined producer and DJ based in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Her Jamaican ancestry and upbringing fused with her 13 years living in New York City have influenced a music style she dubs “Sultry Club”. She incorporates sexy 90’s R&B sounds with futuristic vibes and intricate melodies that are as much for the club as they are for a chill kiki at your home girls crib. Her producitons are unique and specific to her history. Allies/Accomplices are welcome, however please remain conscious of taking up space and the privilege you hold. Tickets are priced on a sliding scale to priorities the afore mentioned identities. If you are an ally we ask you pay $30 to support creating space for the most marginalised members of our respective communities. Entry is free for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Folk, no one turned away for lack of funds. Access: Freda’s is a wheelchair accessible venue, no strobes or hazers will be in use and an AUSLAN interpreter will be present during the speaking elements of the night.
