A night of music and performance exploring sampling, genre-bending and mixing as temporal hacking. Featuring Lia Mice, Rowdy SS, Rebecca Bellantoni, rkss, and Chooc Ly, The Sampler as Time Machine reflects on the materiality of time and its relationship to dancing and music.
Lia Mice performs an all-hardware experimental techno live set conjured with an array of samplers, vocal effects and her new self-designed oversized digital instrument The Prism Bell. Shapeshifting between hypnotic beats and immersive soundscapes, her set draws on her 2018 concept album The Sampler As A Time Machine, which merges industrial, electro and experimental pop with sampler-centric experiments influenced by concepts of time travel.
Following Mice’s set, Rowdy SS and Rebecca Bellantoni present BALANCE, a dance/sound/visual improvisation. BALANCE focuses on the new ways we can use ourselves, our physicality, and technology to communicate within and outside spaces.
DJ sets from rkss and Chooc Ly follow these performances.
