Warm continue their exclusive monthly Plastic People residency on Friday April 16th with a special 4 hour set from Motor City Drum Ensemble!
At just 24 years of age Danillo Plessow AKA Motor City Drum Ensemble can safely lay claim to being one of the most exciting producers of his generation. Keen on jazz from a very young age, he quickly began to soak up soul and disco and fused those tastes into his Inverse Cinematics project, laying down a series of leftfield, yet house inflected releases which quickly caught the ear of such luminaries as Gilles Peterson and Rainer Trüby.
With a respectful nod to Detroit, and drawing on his roots in Germany’s own ‘motor city’, Stuttgart, in 2007 Danillo adopted the Motor City Drum Ensemble alias and quickly set about releasing some of the most critically acclaimed house tracks of recent years. His Raw Cuts series are exactly that: raw, sample-heavy, no-frills club tracks with a nod to the past but an eye firmly on the dancefloor. With original material and remixes on such labels as Compost, 20:20 Vision, Rush Hour, Prime Numbers, and Mule Musiq, and on his own labels MCDE and Four Roses, everyone is after the Motor City Drum Ensemble sound. And with his genuine respect for house music’s origins just as apparent as his desire to push the envelope, Danillo looks like he’s here to stay.
We’ll be giving Danillo 4 hours to dig deep into his record box so expect to be taken on a bit of an adventure!
