- Lovebomb Thursday 12 March Soulnessless: Cantos I-IV Friday 13 March Tickets per performance, $25/$20 or $32 for both (+ BF) Award winning multimedia artist, writer, public speaker, educator and record label boss Terre Thaemlitz takes over The SUBSTATION with her uncompromising, confronting and intellectually ignited work. Thaemlitz's ouvre resists easy categorisation, spanning the musical spectrum from deep house to neo-expressionist piano solos, glitch to ambient. Her practice is a provocative engagement with identity politics, working through issues of gender, sexuality, class and ethnicity while also digging into the structural dynamics of media production and reception within society. Lovebomb is an analysis of love as a cultural mechanism that enables otherwise unacceptable acts of violence, as demonstrated by domestic violence, a terrorist's love for her cause and America's vengeful love of freedom. Digitally processed spoken word samples narrate various scenarios of global violence. Sharp video edits of animation, collage and found footage add new layers of depth and dark humour to the "Lovebomb" audio project. Presented by The SUBSTATION in association with Room40 as part of Asia TOPA. Restricted to 18+ : This performance features adult concepts, nudity, surgical images and materials that would not be suitable for young audience members. FAQs Accessibility The SUBSTATION is a fully accessible venue, there is a ramp to enter the building as well as an elevator inside. This event is a general admission seated event. Should you require special seating arrangement please contact us at [email protected]. Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? In an effort to reduce waste, The SUBSTATION asks that patrons do not print their tickets at home. We ask that you have your ticket ready on a mobile device upon arrival or just bring some photo ID to verify your identity. What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event? To get to SUBSTATION, we encourage you to catch the Williamstown or Werribee train from Flinders Street Station to Newport Station. We are a short 4 minute walk from the station. There is also ample parking out the front of the venue. What's the refund policy? Tickets are non-refundable, tickets can be exchanged for different date (where available) and we also accept ticket name changes. Am I eligible for concession prices? Concession discounts apply to full-time students, seniors, pensioners, Healthcare Card holders and local residents (check here). If you are a local resident simply show proof of residence upon ticket collection. This performance is Restricted to 18+, children under 18 are not allowed to attend.
