Your irrepressible host with the absolute most JAZZHEADCHRONIC + Special Guest PAUL DUNPHY (The Gentleman DJ) unleash pure dancefloor sonic beasts and beats alongside well funked up special guests / one of London's finest exponents of The New Orleans Funk Sound, THE BIG SMOKE FAMILY (LIVE) at The CLF Art Cafe. LEVEL 1 - THE BIG SMOKE FAMILY (Live) Band on stage around midnight
Following in the footsteps of modern New Orleans funk bands such as Galactic and Trombone Shorty, and drawing inspiration from Mardi Gras Indians and classic outfits such as James Brown, The Meters and Rebirth Brass Band, The Big Smoke Family have dedicated themselves to the funky sounds of New Orleans with a unique blend of horns, street beats, scratching and original compositions.
Electrifying performers and with credits that include Dr. John, Maceo Parker, Zigaboo, Courtney Pine and Joss Stone the BSF are some of the UK’s funkiest musicians.
They can regularly be seen playing their residency at Ronnie Scott’s and The Magic Garden or at clubs like, Pizza Express LIVE, Hootanany and at Festivals like LJF, Bestival and Ealing blues. Having witnessed them Live at the SLST in 2018, believe us when we say that best of times await + we truly can't wait to welcome them back to The South London Soul Train Live stage.
Then on LEVEL 2 - Expect the FUNK, The whole FUNK and nothing but the FUNK as Legendary 45 DJs SNOWBOY and Jazzcotech warrior PERRY LOUIS load up the turntables and let loose with an all night barrage of hand picked dance floor classics and rare vinyl nastiness all night long. Hell to the yeah, Strictly on the good foot!
ROOM 3 (LEVEL 2 / ROOM 2) - S’all about The Northern Soul of it all. Your Northern Soul Room host The Legendary ROB MESSER + OSCAR ROMP dropping more seismic northern soul joints of epic proportions, hard and heavy on yehs. All on 45! Release yourselves!
The South London Soul Train 4 floor line up completed in the RYE WAX / BASEMENT by too damn hot SLST residents SCRIMSHIRE + BOPPERSON, Red hot DJs/Producers from the highly influential WAH WAH 45 Label, delivering more piping hot joints from the world wide wonder funk, soul, boogie and hip hop underground [then to now] for max dancefloor satisfaction. Boom Bloody Pow!
The South London Soul Train (as always) All floors, will be taking, all passengers on a Non-Stop Magical Mystery Tour through all things Too Damn Funky. P-Funk to Jazz Funk, Soul Jazz to Rare Groove N’ Stax, Brass, Breaks, Bop and Hop to Motown, Club Classics and Anthems.
However - Passengers are requested to check their Souls at the Station as this one's for good time party people only! No Bass Wobbles Here, Only Love, Funk and Souuuuuuuul.
