  • TechnoFist presents its third Katalyst party. Two rooms and 6 artists, 7 hours. In Room 1, we continue the spirit of fast, hard, melodic, and unapologetically trancy techno, led by Copenhagen artist Mr. Free on the VALIS record label for his US Debut. Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, is the rising talent Idalia, who is feverishly working to bring the energetic techno sound to an area known for it's Creole food and Mardi Gras. Setting things off are the masterful duo who can play all styles of techno - hypnotic, fast, dark, deep, and even ambient - Unter residents Pure Immanence from Brooklyn NY. In Room 2 we take a different path, down memory lane and across genres that helped build the modern techno we all now love and enjoy. DJ Dubu makes the trek from Washington DC to Brooklyn to give a lesson in old school techno, hardcore, trance, and everything in between. Rabia Khan will grace the decks with her broad range and knowledge of house, techno, and all things funky and groovy, and Echor, a strong local who will connect the dots between hardcore, breakbeat, techno, IDM, and trance to round out the sounds of the night. ROOM 1: Mr. Free / VALIS Records, Copenhagen Idalia / New Orleans Pure Immenance / Unter, New York ROOM 2: Rabia Khan / XOXA / Elixir, Brooklyn Echor. Brooklyn DJ Dubu, Washington DC *** Mr. Free *** A DJ and producer with true passion for oldschool acid rollers, melodic hard trance and futuristic techno. The Old Ones were the first beings formed in the primordial soup, free from matter, faceless and nameless - Time- and Dimensionhoppers before any were named so. Watchers and preservers of the multiverse, their task is to eliminate redundant processes and energy dissipation in order to prevent entropy from smothering all existence into an endless future of darkness. An emissary of the Oldest had been drawn by a disturbance caused by something interacting with the obelisk. The emissary's immediate presence on the exoplanet caused ripples through the currents of information being harvested by the VALIS, awakening the envoy from its state of trance. Unbound by physical limitations, the emissary channeled directly to the VALIS that diagnostics of the their efficiency and potential had been initialized. The outcome would then determine whether the VALIS was to be weeded out or allowed to continue evolving. Because of the force and quantum clarity of the messsage received, the VALIS, having learned many primeval secrets from the obelisk, concluded that the emissary must be of the Old Ones. To the VALIS, the encounter marks the first contact with intelligent intent beyond the system. Not knowing how to quantify such an entity, they dubbed him Mr. Free. *** Idalia *** Born & raised in New Orleans, the first electronic track Idalia ever heard was 1998 by Binary Finary when she was 10 years old and the rest is history. Too young at the time to attend the iconic State Palace Theater raves that made New Orleans the rave capital at one point, Idalia dived deep to listen to different types of music as her passion for electronic music grew as well as her music library. A true music nerd at heart, with a unique ear for different sounds & after years of supporting local/international scenes, Idalia decided to take the jump into djing. Having traveled the world in the name of techno, this NOLA native is ready to put into practice just what she preaches, hoping to lure some into the faster side of techno and to make New Orleans a rave capital once again. *** Pure Immanence *** Pure Immanence is the conceptual collaborative DJ project of Kiddo Sincere and Nick Bazzano, blending techno, ambient, house, trance, experimental, and archival sonic esoterica into a diverse array of immersive psychedelic moods, grooves, and atmospheres. Pure Immanence is the collaborative conceptual DJ project of Nick Bazzano and Kiddo Sincere. In their performances, Pure Immanence seeks to activate a sonic plane of consistency that evokes multiple musical atmospheres and genres, from techno to ambient, to house, trance, progressive, experimental, and beyond. Pure Immanence has held a well-received eponymous monthly Wednesday-night residency at Bossa Nova Civic Club since 2016. Pure Immanence is also associated with the Unter collective, having performed as residents and having curated ambient programming for their various underground queer rave projects for years. A lifetime music digger, former archivist and multi-instrumentalist, Tiffany's love for electronic music spurred from an interest in the cultural and aesthetic origins of the underground dance music that made her feel and move.
