𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗸𝗮𝗹𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝘆 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲.
Just a couple of weeks before our 3rd anniversary and while planning some new exciting things, we found ourselves in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, a great concern for all of us.
European governments have taken necessary steps and banned all social and cultural events to minimize the speed and scope of the infection. Our responsibility is to respect the decision and stay closed as long as it's necessary to help beat the danger as quickly as possible.
As an independent organisation with no funding and no sponsorship we are without an income at the moment, but we still have to pay a portion of operational costs, despite the club being closed. Furthermore, we have already invested a considerable amount of money into events which we already know won’t happen. Our staff is on a forced vacation without a promise of next month’s pay. Last but not least, we and our friends – DJs and producers – are out of work for an indefinite amount of time.
This is an attempt to help Ankali, its artists, staff and our fragile scene to withstand the crisis. We’d like to ask you for your help to be able to stay vital until situation gets better.
Without a set date, first weekend after things getting back to normal, we will throw a weekender (two days long gatherning) with a local-only line-up. If you’d like to help, you can support us by acquiring a ticket on Resident Advisor and choosing from four price options depending on the amount you’d like to contribute. And the sooner you contribute the better. Ticket will secure your spot at the weekender and all the proceeds will cover the operational costs of the club while it's closed. Artists on the bill will be supported in advance.
10% of the funds raised will be donated to Fandi Mámám, a non-profit organisation supporting single mothers. With closed schools it is now even more difficult for them to work efficiently to make a decent living for their children.
In the meantime keep up the good spirit and take this precious time alone as a moment to stop and reflect. Times like these are always an opportunity for a change, on a smaller or bigger scale.
