  • Ghostly Knowledge Share resumes on November 19th, presented by Ghostly with support from Vans. The panel — Notes on Collaboration — features Matthew Dear (Ghostly), Kelly Moran (Warp), Brijean Murphy (Ghostly), and Kenneth Whalum (Broken Land Records), moderated by Liz Warner (dublab). Watch on Ghostly's Twitch. It is free to view and will be archived for 14 days. RSVP here. Matthew Dear (Ghostly) Matthew Dear is a shapeshifter, oscillating seamlessly between DJ, dance-music producer, and experimental pop auteur. He is a founding artist on both Ghostly International and its dancefloor offshoot, Spectral Sound. He writes, produces, and mixes all of his work and has had remixes commissioned by The XX, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Spoon, Hot Chip, The Postal Service, and Chemical Brothers. Earlier this year Dear teamed up with Ford Motor Company to create a track using noises from their new electric car model. Kelly Moran (Warp) Kelly Moran is a pianist and composer from New York. Her most recent record Ultraviolet was released by Warp Records in 2018. As the main producer for her five solo albums, her intricately arranged electro-acoustic compositions have been described as accomplishing "the rare feat of making the work of a single individual sound like the artistic output of a veritable creative army." As a collaborator she has worked with FKA Twigs, Lucinda Chua, Prurient, Oneohtrix Point Never, Glasser, Toby Driver, Charlie Looker, and fellow pianist and long-term John Cage collaborator Margaret Leng-Tan. Brijean Murphy (Ghostly) Brijean Murphy is a visual artist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter. She works as a session & touring musician and has emerged as one of indie’s most in-demand percussionists (Poolside, ToroY Moi, U.S. Girls). In 2018, she began recording songs with multi-instrumentalist and producer Doug Stuart, who also shares a background in jazz and pop. This duo project became Brijean, releasing mini-album Walkie Talkie and recently signed with Ghostly International. Kenneth Whalum (Broken Land Records) Kenneth Whalum is a New York/Memphis based Grammy winning singer, songwriter (Justine Skye, Mac Miller, Big K.R.I.T.), saxophonist (Jay-Z, Frank Ocean, Mac Miller, D’Angelo) and solo recording artist. As an artist, Kenneth Whalum charts a new direction in music. With a captivating intensity, his work pushes the conventional boundaries of contemporary emerging artists. He fuses together soul, alternative, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and blues. Liz Warner (Dublab) Liz Warner is a radio host and producer, DJ, voice actor and music journalist based in Los Angeles. Liz first took to the airwaves in Detroit in 1995. Over 12 years and thousands of radio hours, she provided a platform for deep music and arts exploration. Liz has a long history of interviewing both established and emerging artists of many forms – including musicians, performance and visual artists, authors, filmmakers and more – for not only radio but for print and stage. Hear Liz with “Alternate Take” monthly on dublab.
