  • Don't you think it's time to #CHANGETHERECORD Solidarity Sounds UK have put together an action-packed event, inspired by a unique location - the old Blackfriars Crown Court in central London; to highlight the Black Lives Matter movement, as part of Black History Month 2020; with an exciting programme that will inform, inspire and entertain. Our 'pay what you can' tickets (£3, £5 & £10) allow all day, drop in-and-out access to this online zoom event. 100% profit from tickets and donations goes to our two causes Safer London & The Black Curriculum. Let’s look at ways to take positive action, whoever we are. Let's work together to end racism. NOW THE LINE UP !!! 'Justice, Inequality + Experience of the System' 3pm - Welcome & SSUK meet Safer London 3:15pm - Poetry from Safer London Young Londoners 3:25pm - Sean Poulier (Qualified Solicitor & Higher Rights Advocate) explains the experience of going to court for a defendant, through a tour of Blackfriars 3:35pm - Kieron Rennie performance of original poem 'Holding Race', inspired & filmed at Blackfriars court. 3:40pm - Sean Poulier speaks to our co-founder about inequalities in the UK justice system & knowing your rights in stop & search 3:50pm - I Sis performance of original poem 'What the Law taught me', inspired by & filmed at Blackfriars court. 4pm - 4.50pm LIVE SPEAKER HOUR hosted by Banseka Kayembe of nakedpolitics.co.uk with Live Q&A from you, the audience! - Ahmed Adyeed (Director of Public Law at Duncan Lewis) will speak about his work in Human Rights, Inequalities in the Justice system & Public Law challenges like racial profiling with A.I -Retired Met Police Inspector, & BPA founding member: Jenny Donaldson will speak about her court experiences as a black female officer, with a focus on resilience - Route to Law & Race at the bar - with Cyril Adjei (Employment Law Barrister, Old Square Chambers) All talks with a Live Q+A after each speaker and another chance to ask questions at the end. 4:50pm - A musical interlude with a pre-recorded set from the talented Erin Jae Wellness + Fitness - a Reset for the mind & body. 5pm - 20 minute Yoga & Meditation with Eline - an easy practice to calm the body & mind 5.20pm - An SSUK film with Ollie & Nadeem founders of FlockTogether.World 5.35pm - 'Whole body Shakeout' & 'Brain Break Workout' with Teacher, Coach and Founder of @mafiamoves_ Andre ‘Coggnito’ Coggins 5.50pm - SSUK introduce The Black Curriculum 5.55pm - An original short film & poem to intro our next section by David Neita, the Poetry Lawyer 'The Book Doctor', filmed onsite at the court. 'History & Action' - hosted by SSUK + Isis Amlak 6pm - A live black history talk on Southwark and the black presence, education and civil rights, from the informative BlackHistoryWalks.co.uk 6:30pm - Isis Amlak (Pan Afrikanist radio presenter, community activist, former paralegal and poet) speaks about Black History Month & Black Lives Matter in 2020 6:40pm - Another original poem from David Neita 'In Pursuit of Justice', filmed onsite at the court - Live conversation after with Isis Amlak & your Q+A 7:00pm - We are joined by Rhumzy for a premiere of his music video for- ‘Black Wall Street’ and a special live acoustic performance. 7:15pm - An Interview by Isis Amlak with law graduate Banseka Kayembe of nakedpolitics.co.uk filmed at the court - covering the BLM movement, allyship & her thoughts on collective action - how to take action together. With a Live Q+A after. 7:40pm - We round up the day with all our thoughts and advice from speakers on the best way to move forward, fight inequality in the UK and 'Change The Record' together. 8PM TIL LATE - PARTY TIME!
