[CANCELLED] a2j with Elif & Frida Darko

  • Who the heck said downtempo isn’t for dancing? On 5th September 2021, we’re returning from the shadows by bringing you our debut downtempo electronic music event, and what a story we have planned. Setting ourselves upon the terrace of London's infamous Night Tales, some of the smoothest, dirtiest, darkest and eclectic beats will ricochet from the walls, and we can guarantee your feet will move. We’re extremely blown away by the talent we have joining us… From the mystifying energy of Turkish-born Elif from the Anjunadeep & Stil vor Talent family, Elif brings all sorts of surprises and beauty to her sets. Then there’s Berlin’s queen of the dark side of downtempo Frida Darko, known for her colossal drops, and her chunky bone-shattering beats. Of course, not forgetting our local talent; our very own storyteller Fabïan with his trumpet, as well as the bouncy smooth sounds of Inca Jones. There’s nothing more we can say. Get your slow-dance shoes ready for a daytime Sunday story of badass downbeat tales. Elif DJ and producer Elif (Anjunadeep, Stil Vor Talent) is like her music - compelling, creative, full of life and energy. Since she hit the ground running with her debut on Anjunadeep (2019) which made her an instant favourite, the warm-hearted spirited talent has been ever evolving and productive, both with her sets and releases. She’s dropped the stunning ‘Entanglement’ on Stil Vor Talent and ‘Moonspell’, her label debut on A Tribe Called Kotori which achieved chart success. Elif has turned heads as a non-stop nomadic performer at the likes of Burning Man, The Monastery Festival, Anjunadeep Explorations, ADE, Kater Blau, The Gardens of Babylon and Flying Circus parties, Tulum, Montreal, Ukraine, Amsterdam... be it a dark club or a sunny beach, she brings heart, variety, passion and life-enhancing vibes to her listeners. Within the DJ circuit, she’s a name much admired, with top level talent including BLOND:ISH and Oliver Koletzki regularly championing her music. ‘Music is my home. Music is my language. Music is my medicine.’ This last year she discovered a passion for a new-found way of sharing her music and connecting with her fans, with live streams for ABRACADABRA, Desert Hearts, Anjunadeep, Femme House, doing weekly live shows on Twitch. Her ‘Moon Shuttle’ residency with ABRACADABRA TV is becoming a fast favourite, reaching over 10K viewers on Sunday afternoons. ‘I am a music storyteller. My nerd brain learns about music theory and production, when I can go days and nights without sleep and just work, because I can only enjoy success If I really earned it. This way I have a real and inspiring story to tell. I want to use my platform for our planet, for a better society, for freedom, for equality.’ Frida Darko Frida Darko creates her own unique downtempo style with magical atmosphere. She is based in Leipzig, Germany, and a member of the German collective "Rebellion der Träumer*". As a young girl, Frida was playing the drums and the piano and helping out at her parents' nightclub. These experiences of her childhood laid the foundation for her music career. With her music she skilfully combines dark disco and bouncy, progressive slowrave. Meanwhile she has been playing at various festivals and made her way to different cities throughout Europe, certain to enchant the crowds with her very Darko-ness. Fabïan Fabïan enjoys sliding into the role of a musical alchemist when he approaches his craft; building eclectic, often transcendental storylines, developed through his deep devotion to downtempo and electronica. Growing up as a jazz and classical musician, it's only natural for him to recite his roots during his DJ sets, which is why you'll often find him energising the crowd and putting a stamp on his sets with his live trumpet licks, bringing a unique foot-jamming swing to the table, as he dances effortlessly between feelings of raw intensity, emotive melodies, laced with chunky bluesy/jazzy grooves and bass-lines. Inca Jones London based producer and DJ Inca Jones is known for her distinctive, uplifting sound from downtempo grooves to melodic techno. Combining her background in singing and gypsy, folk stylings with her love for electronic music, Inca Jones has a warm psychedelic feel to her performances. 2019 saw her debut release on Sunken Sun Records, as well as multiple gigs in Berlin, Glastonbury festival and a monthly residency in London. Inca Jones spent the first months of 2020 in India where she co-created a weekly party in Prana Cafe, Goa. The rest of the year Jones was based between Ibiza and London working on new music, remixes and collaborative projects due to be released in summer of 2021. Expect signature groove-based house, techno and UK underground dance music. ---------------------------- We are friends that met in London a few years ago and share a passion for music, events and immersive experiences. Our story started in a small flat in North London in 2017, organising a birthday party for friends and family, which finished with four DJs and 80 people in a small club in King Cross, April to July was born. After experimenting with different electronic music genres, April to July found its root in the combination of melodic techno with downtempo electronica. Showcasing local and international DJs, our goal is to create unforgettable occasions through the magic of music to thrill, entertain and to build a community. Join us for our next musical journey. Love, April to July family Looking forward to seeing you soon!
