The garden is undoubtedly an instrument of emancipation from nature, a place artificially created by man to make up for the fracture with the eternal world and to induce in man certain behaviors, states of mind, or activities and to interfere with his own conduct.
This rupture also constitutes the principle of every human activity, of every project for the domination of nature, which is subjected precisely in the attempt to rediscover or reconstruct, through technology, that lost paradise.
An often commodified paradise that relies on the promise, constantly betrayed, of an Edenic and immortal existence, where technocratic power and the myth of progress merge together in a project of secularisation of heavenly bliss and where the doctrine of original sin would be nothing more than an interpretative straining to sanction the incorrigible corruption of man and to inscribe sin and guilt in his very nature.
Once again, the garden represents the setting of human knowing, transgression, aesthetic research, and love-quintessence, constituting not only the background but reflecting the human evolution and exposing a very accurate picture of our culture and society.
This is why GEGEN wants to develop a better garden, a garden where everyone can exercise their thirst for knowledge and discover themselves, where the happiness of future generations will not have to be based on the suffering of the present one and reverse. We aim to recreate our own little corner of paradise where our Hesperides, Daughters of the Evening, will guide us through a copious banquet of celebrations towards the sunset. For this event, our nymphs will enrapture us with their music in a frenzied awaiting for the darkness to fall. The golden apple is waiting for you, would you like to take the first bite?
