REVIVEHER Bank Holiday Day Party - Nick The Record B2B Kay Suzuki, Kristy Harper & Millie

  • REVIVEHER returns to The Lot for a special bank holiday day party, with their heroes, for their only party of the summer, following their last sold-out event back in April with A Guy Called Gerald. Their sold parties last year include guest DJs James Priestley, Red Rack'em, Kiwi, Ray Mang, Kristy Harper and Nick The Record. For this one, they’ve invited the legendary DJ and record collector Nick The Record back for a special 4 hour B2B set with Kay Suzuki. Nick requested to be paired with Kay, who is one of the original resident DJs and co founders of infamous audiophile venue, Brilliant Corners and runs the re-issue label Time Capsule. It’s very rare that Nick plays B2B with anyone. So, this is an aural delight not to be missed. During the day, we also welcome back upcoming DJ and producer Kristy Harper and Millie, who smashed her set in HWK Bar a few weeks back at the Secretsundaze after party. Residents Bi-Bop & Best complete the line up. There’s also a free after party next door at HWK until 1:30am Grab your crew and book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment and guarantee entry. There will be a limited number of tickets available on the door as well. And if you get down before 4pm, ENTRY IS FREE! ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Nick The Record One of the world’s greatest record collectors and selectors, Nick The Record, closes REVIVEHER with a 4 hour B2B set with Brilliant Corners co-founder Kay Suzuki. There’s so much to say about Nick. His entire career has been a lesson in love for the music and passion for the culture that has made the sound he represents such an integral and enduring part of dance music culture. One of the scenes most well-respected D’s and record collectors for over 30 years, it was only fairly recently that he became something approaching a household name in the UK. 2017 proved to be a pivotal year, when he was chosen to play the “Final Night in Paradise” (Paradise Garage tribute) for Boiler Room, and hand-picked to pull together the landmark Arthur Russell tribute mix for RA, full of unreleased versions and previously unknown material that Nick had managed to source over the years. The past few years has seen Nick spreading his music further & wider, as well as to a younger demographic, with sets at Kala Festival (Albania), Garden Festival and Love International (Croatia), Sunset Campout (California), Wonderfruit (Thailand), Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Festival, Meadows In The Mountains (Bulgaria), Dekmantel Selectors Festival and an Australian tour with Theo Parrish. Nick has had a profoundly close relationship with the scene in Japan for decades having co-founded Life Force in 1993, Japan’s first open air festival, where he played 3-4 times a year. A residency at Taico Club open-air festival followed for some 15 years, where he’d close the festival on the main stage in their sacred forest. Nick still spins regularly out there, alongside a packed touring schedule and a monthly residency at London’s Jazz Café for their disco-oriented Soul City (night prior to lockdown, of course). It’s not just the quality of his selections and the depth of his crates that make Nick the consummate DJ’s DJ (although it’s indisputable to say that he’s accumulated one of the most coveted collections of rare 12 Inches in the UK), his own productions, edits and releases also add to the pure joy of his sets. He’s founded two labels for his own beyond impeccable releases; Record Mission alongside Dan Tyler (The Idjut Boys), where they’re now on EP no.6 and have reworked the likes of “Boyd Jarvis – The Music Got Me” for Ransom Note Records, “Tabu Ley – Hafi Deo” for Soundway” & “Robot Jam” for Emotional Rescue; as well as more recently ‘Natural House’, as a home for his own remixes. His own original 12” productions on Nuphonic, Ene & 20/20 Vision are already timeless classics, as are his legendary compilations, including ‘Under the Influence’ for Dave Lee’s Z label, and two official mix CD’s for Lastrum & Avex, the biggest record label in Japan. What sort of set we can expect from the great man on Sunday. Well, of course, it depends on the mood, the tone of the day, the energy of the crowd. Nick can play any style. He leans towards house with some disco, or disco with some house, but you can be sure he’ll throw in some African and Tropical records too when the feelings right. Nick likes to play long sets. But listening to what he plays with Kay Suzuki will be a unique trip for sure. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Kay Suzuki Kay Suzuki has been heavily involved in London’s diverse club scene since 2004. He had his debut release on CO-OP in 2007. Whilst releasing remixes, re-edits and original productions on several labels across the globe, Kay launched his own label Round In Motion 2010 which has been releasing vinyl from multiple artists from London, and received support from established DJs and producers such as David Mancuso, Gilles Peterson, Francois Kevorkian, Theo Parrish, Laurent Garnier and Bradley Zero to name a few. Kay was a part of the trio who set up audiophile Japanese restaurant Brilliant Corners in 2013, and continues producing music today as well as running a new reissue focused label Time Capsule, born out of a loose musical community based around the long running party Beauty & The Beat and Brilliant Corners. As a DJ, Kay has been invited to numerous cities in Europe and Asia for the past decade. His sets carry the impression of an atomic collision of funk/jazz-infused energy with an electronic severity that you just can’t quite locate – a combination that has proven irresistible for dance floors repeatedly. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Kristy Harper Kristy has fast become a regular name on the club and festival circuit. With a keen love for vinyl, she’s managed to demonstrate her full spectrum of musical knowledge through her regular all-night long vinyl sets at Brilliant Corners and her shows on Operator Radio (Rotterdam) and Netil Radio (London). This led to stand out club and festival appearances across Europe and Asia such as Magnetic Fields, Snowbombing, Houghton and Love International. Kristy is also making waves in the producer world, with debut track ‘Uncle Jungle’, featured as part of the ‘Dialogues’ VA on Monologues Records. The EP vividly represents her eclectic DJ sets, blending disco, house and Latin elements. The track and subsequent EP on the same label racked up support from some of Kristy’s biggest influencers. One of them, being previous REVIVEHER guest and collaborator, Jacques Renault, who in turn, signed her up to his Let’s Play House label, where she released an acid and Italo dance floor belter on his LPH White imprint. That release further catapulted her in to the spotlight, with support from Radio 1, Rinse FM and Ministry of Sound, plus playlist and radio plays from acclaimed producers like Mele, Hot Since 82, CC:Disco!, Move D, Call Super, Alison Swing, Dave Harvey and PBR Streetgang. While her club sets centre around house, Italo and acid, Kristy will be digging deep to play a wide-ranging set of daytime sounds during the afternoon.
