  • All proceeds and RA booking fees are being donated to Shaun Robert's GoFundMe campaign. It’s not easy to remain impartial when it’s something as important as this. And the importance of the event is reflected in the sheer calibre of electronic artists involved: from The Chemicals, Annie Mac and Fatboy Slim to Erol Alkan, Jay Carder and fabric mainstays like Daniel Avery and DJ Hype. In short, it’s a line-up with real gravitas. fabric’s Managing Director and Co Founder Cameron Leslie gave us the following statement: “Shaun is someone we have known for 20 years. He’s a very close friend of ours and also respected across the industry. And this event is the best way to support him. He means a huge amount to many of us – artists, agencies and managers alike – so this is a reflection of the love we have for him.” Norman Cook takes a very similar stance: “I think it is a measure of a community that it looks after it’s own. A testament to our love for Shaun, who I’ve known for the best part of two decades.” Opening up Room 1 will be Jay Carder: “I cannot wait to shell it out in fabric's room 1 alongside some absolutely incredible artists, to help raise more funds and give Shaun the very best fighting chance we can." In essence, the event is a fundraiser to contribute to potential life extending medical treatments. It will be added to the already phenomenal sum raised through a GoFundMe page …a campaign that has already raised 140k we might add. “It’s all going into the medical fund,” says Shaun, still incredulous at the support so far. “fabric have been supporting me since I was diagnosed 2 years ago and offered to put on this event before I launched my GoFundMe page as they wanted to help out a friend. We had no idea it would get so big. Anything that’s left over when I’m no longer about will be going to great cancer charities” As you may know already, Shaun’s life-extending treatment now requires navigation beyond the NHS following a diagnosis of Stage 4 Metastatic cancer in 2019. “The NHS have been amazing and will continue to look after me but I’ve pretty much run out of options for further treatment outside of chemotherapy.” “I lived in fabric for 15 years,” adds the former promotions manager, who is also keen to make this about raising awareness about bowel cancer, a medical issue some people still don’t discuss properly. “So the club really is a huge part of who I am and without it I wouldn’t have met most of the incredible people who’ve been supporting me over the past few weeks. It’s a testament to the community that has grown around Charterhouse Street and to the people who steer it. Offering to host a fundraiser for me at the venue is such a generous thing to do and I really am honoured. And now we have this quite ridiculous line up of artists who I’m also proud to call friends. It’s going to be very emotional. Is it ok to wear sunglasses in a club if you’re crying?” Bowel cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the UK. Every 15 minutes someone is diagnosed with the disease. Shaun would like to direct people to the brilliant work of Bowel Cancer UK www.bowelcanceruk.org.uk where you can find out more about the symptoms of bowel cancer. In addition to the event, there will also be a special ‘Bar Boot Sale’ for Shaun’s cancer treatment. The Bar Boot Sale features an expansive second-hand market, an all-star raffle, DJs and drinks on 4th December at Kraft Dalston at Kingsland Locke in East London from 11-5pm. -------- Entry 19+.
