  • The inaugural concert for the nights of Sónar 2010 in Barcelona, on Thursday 17 June in L’Auditori, brings together the instrumental group bcn216 with the Barcelona-based Chilean producer Cristian Vogel, who on this occasion will not be responsible for the music, as he normally is, but instead will be providing the visual part of the concert, using images generated live by the music itself, with the co-operation of the visual artists Ricard Marxer and Oscar Sol. Meanwhile, BCN216, the resident instrumental group at L’Auditori, conducted by José Luis Estellés, will perform a series of pieces based around the music of Japan, which are either by Japanese composers or Catalan composers who have composed works in which Japan is the central theme. As a result, the repertoire includes pieces by Kaija Saariaho, Hideki Kozakura, Toru Takemitsu, Benet Casablancas and Josep Maria Guix.
