  • Dispatch Presents Kiki at FutureEverything 2010. On Saturday May 15th 2010, Dispatch presents an event as part of 2010’s FutureEverything Festival and the launch party for a brand new artists’ management and booking agency of the same name. For this one off party, Dispatch have invited one of dance music’s most exciting and sought after players to headline with a special and exclusive DJ/Live set at Manchester’s Ruby Lounge. That person is Kiki from Berlin’s legendary BPitch Control label. The evening will also feature support from some of the most exciting and upcoming acts around at present: EatDisco, Scrubber Fox and Sheffield Bleep, plus visuals from the European Animal design studio. Kiki: Joakim Ijäs AKA Kiki was born in Helsinki, but a move to Berlin in 1994 to study Architecture was the catalyst for Kiki to step in to the realms of becoming a serious DJ and Producer. Impressing the legendary Masters at Work at a Marlboro DJ competition led to him securing gigs at Berlin’s three cathedrals of techno - Tresor, Pfefferbank and WMF. Gigs in Berlin and Germany were soon followed by a string of international bookings and the release of his now infamous three deck mix for Sonnenhaus. With his profile as a DJ growing, it was only a matter of time before a debut release followed this rapid ascent to the top. His first record for Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control label was released in 2001 following a chance meeting when the pair were double booked to play the same DJ slot. Since then Kiki has become an integral part of the BPitch family, growing into a truly international artist and sharing his love of energetic and hypnotic music across the globe from Mexico to Tokyo and making a little bit of history along the way. With an output that has been nothing short of prolific, Kiki has released a number of genre defining records both as himself and with his partner in crime - Silversurfer. Kiki was the first artist asked to put together a mix for the now legendary Boogybytes series which has since featured Sascha Funke, Modeselektor, Allien herself and most recently Seth Troxler; he has also been asked to provide remixes and productions for labels as diverse as Bugged Out, Playhouse and Crosstown Rebels where he had the honour of being the first artist released on the label. His debut album Run With Me, released on Bpitch Control, was an international success, and led to the video for “Shake Off” (a collaboration with Silversurfer and Captain Comatose) being playlisted by MTV. More recently, a collaboration with Sasse and his Moodmusic imprint led to the release of the excellent Grand Cru – a modern club classic. However, as Kiki grew and matured, a yearning to explore deeper and more personal forms of expression in music transpired. This resulted in the release of his second full length album for Bpitch, entitled Kaiku. Like a musical calling card, it combines all of the elements that can only be learned through a life dedicated to music and musical expression, where the space between house and techno and electronic music becomes blurred to the point of irrelevance and the feeling and emotions created by the music give you all the labels you will ever need. One release from Kaiku in particular stands out as one of THE tracks of the past few years, and that is “Good Voodoo”, which has been played out by every DJ in every club with any integrity, and recently featured on Seth Troxler’s Boogybytes Vol. 5, and is a staple tune of Richie Hawtin’s recent DJ sets. On Saturday May 15th 2010, Berlin comes to Manchester for one night only.... No words necessary. EatDisco: EatDisco came to life in 2007 as a small and fun packed party in the North of England. As the events got more popular so did EatDisco as a DJ duo, this popularity led onto bookings at clubs across the UK and Europe, supporting a host of well known figures on the minimal and techno circuit. It was at this point in time that both Paul and Tom decided that it was right to put the club nights and parties that they promoted to bed and concentrate on their DJ and production career full time. Now more established than ever and with a style all of their own, EatDisco are playing out a mixture of everything from the minimal techno and techno sets they are known for to the all-out party sets that started it all. Their debut EP is in the process of being completed and upcoming DJ dates will see them touching down across England, Germany and much further afield. Scrubber Fox: Gary Naylor/Scrubber Fox is an electronic and audiovisual artist hailing from Greater Manchester; his creative output ranges from sophisticated beat programming, experimental and more sonically challenging production and acid house dance floor material through to emotionally captivating electronica. Having released on Skam, Merck and most recently The Centrifuge, Scrubber Fox boasts a truly dynamic and unique back catalogue of music. For this event he will be performing a specially commissioned live set which is set to take the night by the scruff of the neck whilst truly testing the venue in all the right places. Sheffield Bleep: Sheffield Bleep AKA Chris Smith has been working as a DJ in and around Sheffield for a number of years, previously holding down several residencies under different guises in his home town, including the legendary Music Factory and more recently at the hugely successful SulpHate, Sheffield's premier electronic music night. In 2005 Chris started an Internet radio station called Sheffield Bleep which became extremely popular with the electronic music community, pulling in thousands of regular listeners every week from around the globe. Playing mainly IDM, electro and techno, Sheffield Bleep has now evolved from an Internet Radio station into a mix repository for Chris to showcase his mixing talents and has become synonymous with quality electronic music. European Animal: Providing the visual element to the party will be the European Animal design studio. Their work and ideas range in size: over the past 2 years they have had exhibitions in Paris, Manchester and Newcastle and they have covered numerous projects, from branding and web design to illustration and silly drawings. Named as the one’s to watch in Paris’s Rendezvous art guide, they have also featured in Sydney Australia’s globally respected Semi Permanent design bible.
